This year, I think I have got about a dozen of crashes ranging from a couple of minor like breaking the tail blades and landing skids to major ones that require the full tearing down and rebuild. Two crashes were caused by mechanical failure, one by electronic, and the rest are dumb thumbs for whatever reason (loss of focus, disorientation, lack of bailout plan in trying new stuff etc).

I have burnt closed to 20 gallons of fuel and uncountable number of lipo cycles on electric. After all these crashes, I get a handful of new maneuvers nailed down that I never thought I can do it before. : )

One thing I do not understand is there are some people who said they never crash for the past few years or months. How could that possibly be? I saw Nick Maxwell flown last August and he already got two crashes within a day.

Fury 55 crashed due to velcro failure on my RX.

Fury 55 "crashed" due to tail belt snapping

T-Rex 600N totalled after link between blade grip and seesaw flew off mid flight.

That's it though. No dumb thumbs this year... yet.

Total of 2 here. First was to low of a pull out on my trex 450 pro. That was the first time i was happy bout a crash. I had all the parts and it took me 30 mins to fix and be back in the air. the damage was main blades, flybar, one of the rear tt gears, and tail blades. when it hit the ground the tail blades flew off and the heli shot up. So i hit tt and i autoed down. Then my trex 600 nitro was inverted at the start of my flight and right as i got inverted my motor died. so i had a inverted auto on my hands. Flipped it upright and then flared to burn up all my head speed because i was over the corn field so i wanted to make the blow to the helicopter less. When all that happend it was about 10 foot off the ground so i had very little reaction time. So damage to it was like 6 bucks. Only broke my landing skid. That was a great rush!

1. Dumb-thumbed a Trex 500 at sundown. Lost orientation in the shadows, dug it out of the ground. Tough little bird.

I've had no crashes on my "big" helis, but I've stuffed my MPCx so many times I've lost count. Total repair cost to date definitely under $25.00. It's like having a 3D sim!

ONE. That damn TR grip bolt snapped again this year, I hate it when its mechanical, I'd rather it be my fault.

Hopefully the V2 grips will help!

One minor crash with my 600. Bogged the engine with bad collective management too close to the ground.

Crashed a Raptor 50 at a fly-in in Moline, Ill, in July. I was just hovering about 10' high and about 100' out. My spotter told me someone was on the runway to our right. I glanced over for a spit second and the Raptor was in the dirt.

Looked over again to see who it was on the runway, and it was Dave (dkshema). So it was all dk's fault. Yeah,,,, that's it,,,, all his fault.

TWO. First was the tail rotor servo extension connection that came disconnected somehow. Here's how I found her...

Second time was from a loss of signal about 6 feet off the ground. After that I upgraded to a JR X9503 2.4 system and am waiting for the next nice day to get'er up in the air again.

Total cost in parts, upgrades since getting her used this year, including a new OS37SZ-H, radio and machine shop costs to mount the Jewel - about $1500
