What are you looking for, a charge rate?

1C works for everything.

Thanks, TheWoodCrafter

I charge my Zippys at 2C. They are about a month old.

2C in your case would be 6.6A
1C is 3.3AMPS.

My Zippys can be charged at up to 5C max.

Thanks, TheWoodCrafter

I have many Zippys. The newer ones I charge at 4C (just under the 5C max. per manufacturer) Older ones get 2C max since the IR on individual cells is not as closely matched anymore.

2C or not 2C that is the question.

Rule of thumb with proper C rated packs are about charging is xxC/10.
So if I assume the rating is similar to rest of the brands, then 3C charging would be about max.

Few years back, TP has done the pre extreme packs (15c) at 3c charging to 300 cycles with no ill effect.

2C or not 2C that is the question.
That may depend on your charger's balancing capacity and the age of the packs. Older packs will be much more out of balance after use than newer ones. If you charge too quicker, you may have the pack show full voltage, but in reality some cells are overcharged while other are not yet fully charged. Most chargers monitor the individual cells, so when some get full they start bleeding off current from those cells while charging the remaining cells as fast as possible considering the max bleed-off rate of the full cells.

This bleed-off rate is differrent for each charger and some rates are very low. For instance, the ICharger 306B and 3010B can only discharge at a max. of 80W (a high rate compared to most chargers BTW), while the Powerlab 8 can do 100W. So with the ICharger and a 6S pack with say two low cell (these is typically the strongest cells, BTW) there are 4 cels that are full (4.2V) and can't receive anymore charge or they will be overcharged and damaged. The remaining cells may be at say 4.0V (almost fully charged). The ICharger can only charge these remaining cells at 9.5A (1.9C on a 5Ah pack) to avoid providing more current than can be bleed-off from the full cells (80W/4.2V/2cells = 9.5A per cell). I hope this makes sense.

So you may not gain much in reduced charge time when charging older packs at high C rate if the charger can't keep them balanced. Just something to think about.

Not sure on the Zippy's but 2C is the max recommended charge rate on the Turnigy's. They can be charged faster but you have to ask yourself if your really need to charge them that fast.

60% of the time, it works every time!
