Plugging the packs would look like an arc welder!
Not with a proper ESC.. Powerjazz don't spark, don't care if ya plug it in backwards either.. Heck i bet you could run it over with a truck and it would still work. Oh well, sorry back on topic..

Well I called Thunder Power today.

The charger retails for $224.99
Available in January.

Output - You need 36V 40A input to get 1000W out at 14S

you get 756WATTS out for a 6S pack with 24V input.

So there you go, you can get it but you need special power to do it.

I think I'll stay with my iCharger, I don't have any 14S packs anyway.

Thanks, TheWoodCrafter

Mastech
Haven't seen one for sale on here in awhile. I'd just put 3 of the server power supplies in series.

red,

Thoughs are certainly 36V PS but neither will power that charger to get 1000WATTS out of it.

I think the best solution would be 3 - 12V server PS.

Depends how much overhead there is on the max input voltage as most server power supplies are 12.2-12.4v.

60% of the time, it works every time!

That is true. You may need additional 100-200w on the PS side to max out the charger. But, when you consider the convenience of PnP and reasonable price, it is hard to beat.

It just means, when you have a 14s single pack, you will have to charge at 3.2C vs 3.5C.

But, 3PS will offer you an option to run 820 along side this 1430.

This is for those who wish to have a single 14s pack charging at 3.5c. I do not think there is a charger on the market that can do that yet.

We have upto 9s (single pack) packs. While we use two 820s, I had to bring along 1010 to be able to charge the 9s pack.

I was planning on upgrading my 1000w 13.8v PS to 24v setup. This created a problem for 1010s as they can't handle 24v. So this new charger will handle anything that 820s can't at the same PS voltage.

My Duo 720 will do a 14S at 3.5C?

I think this charger is a little late and they missed the point... A duel port would be better! IMO

I am. I have the power supply on the way already.

I use 12s 5000 mAh packs in my 700 and also have a big Sbach 342 that uses the same size batteries. I plan to just add the new charger to my other ones. Should work out real nice.

I'd rather get two and charge each 6s pack at 30 amps

I usually only charge at 2C so as long as i can charge between 8 and 10 AMPs i'll be satisified.
Not sure what i'm going to do for a power supply. If something dosen't catch my eye i'll just wire 3 server supplies together..

Looks like this one will get the job done if you're willing and able to fork over the price of admission... Power factor corrected too

You really do not have to have the PS rated greater than the charger. They will reset if you overload them.

I just lower the charge rate few % and all is good. This $130 36v PS should do the job unless you will be running two chargers.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1000W-36V-2...=item19ca1c16a2

Mine is a 13.8v version of above 1000w PS and it is solid.

BTW, they have it up to 42v
