Not mine but using a DX8 and AR8000 RX in a Trex 550 with Kontronik ESC, Align servos and gyro. When plugging the battery in the servos jump around all over the place and never center, when left for 10 mins then plugging back in again they are fine! WTF?

Even if it needed rebinding the servos should stay still right?

Oh and the RX works fine on another model.

60% of the time, it works every time!

I'd guess a short somewhere or a bad servo. Try the same test unplugging one servo at a time.

I saw something similar on a trex 450 once. One of the servos was bound up causing a large draw. The bec couldn't keep up so the voltage dropped causing the RX to 'fast reboot'. Looked like the servos were going nuts but it was the voltage drop followed by the reboot/quick connect over and over. If there is a way to watch voltage I'd take a look at that.

Stick with the one-servo-at-a-time troubleshooting method.

Start with 1 servo plugged in, and see if it dances.
Progress, one servo at a time, until you get the dance.

If you get to the point where everything is settled down, I'd also start wiggling and pull on the wires.

I'm not sure about the reboot - but the amber LED should be a good indicator of a reboot. It should be blinking if you got a reboot.

I wouldn't trust it in the air until you get a solid dance-free startup every time - 1 out of 10 isn't good enough for me.

I had a servo with a dirty pot - it would dance once and awhile at start up - and I ignored it. then it started dancing while I was flying. I wish I could fly 3D as good as the heli did with a dancing servo - until it crashed.
