Yah, dont expect anything quick via USPS these days...not sure what the deal is but even Express Post, which is normally 3-5 business days, is taking up to 3 weeks!!!

Mine is finished, still waiting on tail bellcrank to complete (it was missing from kit and sent separate as mine was a very early kit).

Its more robust than TDR, but final weight is 5280Grams including TP 12S 4400MAH 65C lipos, 4535LE motor, jive 120HV, vbar fullsize and ar7000, bls251, savox servos, radix V2 710MM and 110MM.

That is one nice looking machine. On a scale of 1 to 10 how would you rate the assembly?

I had a very early kit, so i am in 2 minds, i was lucky to get such an early kit so i am thankful.

There were a few issues on the build. My biggest complaint is lack of manual and information missed out from google translation of german, a spares list with the manual would have been good and saved some time.
There needs to be more space for vbar and full receiver, i found it a little tight

It is a nice machine, more robust than TDR but also heavier.

Not sure how it flies, waiting on tail pitch arm (the only thing missing).

I hope to fly this week at speed cup 2250RPM and 1950RPM.

The Mini V Bar, and other single box units work wonderful on that helicopter...no need for the 2 piece.

Im sure the manual will be updated and an English version will be released. I was just going over the Joker 3 manual and its pretty darn good so I expect the same for the Diabolo.

Try 2400RPM and about 18deg pitch...that what the mini copter guys did and they took top place at the IRCHA speed cup!

Please let us know what you think of the feel while flying, especially in relation to the TDR. The vid with the 750 blades is interesting!

It's weird you got a yellow canopy, mine didn't come with one at all...

Rael at Helix Hobby told me they're prepping a new multi-color canopy that looks cool and I emailed Gerd to hopefully get a pic...

Gerd has been a great help responding to emails within a day.

Also he sent me missing tail hub and pitch arm. I dont think anyone else will have this problem as i got one of the first 10 kits.

Michael, your Diabolo has pretty much exactly the same setup as your TDR, right? Same blades, same motor, same battery, same electronics, etc.

So how does the weight of the two helicopters compare? The Diabolo is heavier, right?

Please don't take this the wrong way, but I just don't see how the Diabolo represents any sort of evolution or improvement over the TDR.

Is there something about the Diabolo which fixes an "Achilles heel" of the TDR design? I thought that with the exception of the price, many proclaim that the TDR is just about perfect as far as helicopter design goes.

I don't have a TDR but the Diabolo is beffier. It reminds me a little of the Schluter/Robbe of old but not as heavy. I think minicopter wanted to follow the trend of the Joker, which is truly a fly til your fingers cramp, very durable helicopter.

-Bigger boom,
-The shock dampening system adds an once or two, (over the TDR)
-Main Gears are wider
-The sides are real carbon fiber, and a respectable gage
-The belt pulleys are made of several aluminum pieces, not plastic, (you'll nerver wear or break those).
-The tail looks boiler plate, meaning, looks pretty darn stout. The last thing one would want is another new heli with tail growing pains, I think Gerd did a great job here.

you can see build pics here:

I am set on writting a full Kit review for Model Aviation.

1st I need to digest this dry turkey...

Pretty soon there are not going to be any pages left in our AMA mag for the planker guys.

Is MicroCopter the same company that make the helicopter which used a separate motor and separate ESC for the tail rotor a few years back?

750's
Misskimo,
Which 750's did you get, where and how much? I'm considering the options right now, figured I'd get some 690's and 750's to have varied flights...

We just fly 750 shortened from 800s. NHP is currently making molds for 750s with special airfoil, they say available in january.

Thanks Gerd,

I'll keep my eyes out for the NHP's, I asked the guys at Torsion blades if they were gonna do some, they said just 710's Please let us know of any other options in the 750 range.

Regarding the Canopy, any pics or word on when they will be shipped, I'm very interested to see which design/colors you've chosen. I'll probably get a blank and send to Insane Canopy for a custom job but it'd be great to have a nice stock option also.
