I have a blinged out 600 but too afraid to push the limit with it! Thinking of purchasing another 600 to learn harder maneuvers with, what are your guys opinions on a beater heli? Do you have one? Are they worth it? Etc?
Thanks

I like the mcp x for learning new things. Crash, pickup, put down and fly .... Repeat

I have a beater rex 600. I like it cause im not afraid to push it to the limits. Plus you can pick up whole airframes on here for cheap for backups.

All my helis are beaters, bling or not. I get no satisfaction just looking at a pretty heli on the shelf.

I have a beater Evo50 that I cannot remember how many times I have crashed it. I learn half piro flip, inverted auto, inverted forward and backward flight etc from that heli.

It always helps to have a beater...
Especially when you're trying new stuff with your "Shelf Queen"...

(don't mean to heli-jack the OP's thread)

Here's a few pics of one of my beater that will be up on the Clasifieds in a few...hehe

Jeez, that looks like a nice beater - here's mine.

I do think it's a really good idea to have one that doesn't hurt much if it goes in. My only issue with crashing something like this is loosing the main blades. Those are not cheap no matter what they are bolted to.

My 450, it's a good idea but sometimes it's still hard to do it on your main pride and joy.

Having one to fly and repair and another to look at is self defeating for my purposes.

It's no harder to repair one than the other and more expensive to maintain two than one.

Haven't crashed in a couple years so my opinion will obviously differ from some but I subscribe to the "Run whatcha brung" school of thought.

take the money you were going to buy the new heli with, save it for crash parts and fly the crap out of the one you have.

My beater is whatever helicopter has the cracked canopy. My shelf queen is whatever heli I just bought a new canopy for.
