Where has everyone been putting the gyro on the X50, front or back to get the BEST performance?

Thanks,

Gary H

The location in relation to the mainshaft doesn't actually affect performance,.. unless it's in a higher vibration area. The only thing that really matters is to try and put it where vibration is lowest. The gyro senses rotation, and when you yaw a heli at a given rate, the rotational rate is the same on every part of the heli. That doesn't actually answer your question, sorry, but it doesn't actually matter where you put it was my point. You just need to be away from vibration. I put it up front simply because that eliminated having to secure another wire from the rear back up to the front. Not sure if the front area or the rear area have more vibration but since I'm flying the electric one the vibration level is extremely low anyway.

Also, some gyros also require physical separation from other electronics - like servos, brushless motors & ESC.

They also recommend that the first 1/2" to 1" of the leads are unsecured to the heli frame. In other words: Don't dress the wires neatly to the frame close the body of the gyro, the wire leads will transmit the vibration to the gyro case.

Also, don't let the gyro case touch anything other than the foam pads it is mounted on.

Oh, and it has to be perpendicular to the main mast.

As gwrite says - that doesn't directly answer the question, but I agree with him 100% - it doesn't really matter where you mount it as long as you meet the basic guidelines.

on the X50 theres no where to place the gyro on the rear. either put it on the top deck or lower deck up front. if its a gy520 and on the top deck, youll need to use just a 2.5mm futaba pad with no plate for the gyro to work good. there was a thread about it on here.

I mod mine for gyro in back but changed my mind just easier to keep up front.

I've had great luck with mine in the front. Just keep an eye on the taller gyros that might hit the canopy

sorry, didn't realize that. On the E version there's a place on back plus the one on front
