What function does the horizontal fin on the tail boom perform? My Blade 400 has a huge one, my Trex 450 has a very tiny one, and I see my new Titan SE does not have one. Is it there just for looks or does it actually add stability?

Most, I think are for looks.
Some, that are not cut out skeletons, do some stabilizing in fast forward flight.

Thanks, TheWoodCrafter

Anyone that flys backwards or 3d usually either skeletonizes them or gets rid of them. Going fast backwards it pushes the tail down requiring more cyclic, in 3D it slows flips.

For what it's worth I have been flying without them for some time.

One less thing to worry about.

The horizontal stabilizer is effectively useless, the same for the vertical at most speeds. However, the boom supports should be used.

Useless unless you do F3C, herd Curtis Youndblood talk about testing different sizes for F3C.

couldnt really ever tell if it was on there or not. at high speeds I could some.. but not enough to worry if it was on or on the table.
