I have a blade 400 that I put a metal gear digital tail servo and a 401 futaba gyro on. I also am using a DX8 Tx. I moved the gyro switch to Digital servo and turned the gain down to 0 because I read to do that in the gyro manual. The only way the gyro goes in to heading hold is if I go in the Tx and lower the rate to -1.0 and lower. So I tried to hover the heli when I try to turn the nose to the right the heli spends to the right and the same for when I turn the nose left. when I try to lower the gyro rate more the spinning gets worse. I looked in the DX8 manual it shows the gyro rate sould be 60 to 80 and when I set it to that. The gyro does not show a solid light showing its in heading hold. The only way the light stays on is like I said -1.0. If anyone nows anything please let me know!!!

For the time being, nix the gyro menu in the radio and just follow these instructions step by step:
http://www.futaba-rc.com/team/team-tip-002.html You're not an idiot, but those instructions I wrote are pretty much idiot proof.

I'm not completely sure by your description that your gyro direction is set correctly. With the model sitting on the bench, input a LEFT t/r command. Note the direction the servo moves. Then move the nose of the model to the right. The gyro should compensate and the t/r servo should move in the same direction it did for the left t/r command. If it's backwards, reverse the gyro's sense direction. Make sure you have some gain dailed into the gyro as per the guidelines above.

You'll be able to use your 401 with the gyro menu in the DX8, but doing as per the guide above will get you flying and the gyro and model adjusted. After that you can go back and integrate the two mfg's products.
