I want to try a LiFe 2S receiver pack on one of my 50 size helis. I have always been using regulated voltage before. Can someone suggest what I should get?

Depending on what servos you are using and if you are FBL will affect your decision on what size LiFe battery to get. Most are in the range of 2000-3000 mAh. You need to make sure your servos can safely and reliably handle a constant 6.6 volts. Also, as LiFe packs act a little differently from other batteries, you need to monitor flight times/recharge mAh's closely until you get a handle on how much you can safely get out of a pack. A LiFe pack will settle in at 6.5-6.6v pretty quickly and stay there until it drops off drastically. You can't really check them with load (like most do with nicads or LiPo's) to see where you are at voltage wise.

Hobbico 2100 pack

If your servos are rated for 6V they will be fine on straight 2S LiFe. I run a Hitec servo and an Ace servo on the tail with straight LiFe no problems.

You can call and order them with whatever combination of connectors you want though for helis I would get 2 JR connectors, one to the reciever, another to charge through, and a balance tap.

I have a friend of mind using this pack. I will also check with him. Yes, I am running @ 6V for all servos. How many minutes of flight or how many tanks of fuel will I expect per pack?

depends on your setup - I usually use 300-400mah per flight. With that I'm comfortable running the pack down to about 70% usage so with a 2100 about 4 flights. Really depends on what your setup. I'd suggest doing 2 flights and recharging with a charger that tells you how much it pushed back. Add a flight when you are comfortable. Always keep track of how much you push in. There is no other way to tell how much you have left in the pack other than to keep track of how much you use. The LiFe chemistry holds the voltage right up to the very end of the discharge.

Usage also depends on if you are FBL or not. FBL controllers are using more mAh's than flybarred models.

I run unregulated 2S LiFePO4 in just about everything I own now. I use the Hyperion brand and get them from the place in my signature line. Not sponsored, just a really satisfied customer.

I have Hyperion also, two years old on my 700. Been working great. My only complaint is the propriatery connectors both power and balancer. I changed them and it work. The reason I like the Hobbico is because the multiple standard RX leads off it.

I already had all Hyperion balancers, etc. I solder a standard plug on the power leads.

Are you using a switch for on/off with the LiFe Rx pack?Seems a pain to remove the canopy to plug in all the time.

I am on a nitro kick partly because I was tired of taking the canopy on and off after each flight.

I have a switch that is accessed at the rear of the frames. Easy to get to nothing in the way. I use a magnetically actuated switch made by Emcotec. Good stuff.
