Hi,
My OS55HZ's connecting rod and piston broke while flying but luckily I had practiced some autos so I landded it safely.
Now I'm putting the engine back together with new parts of a Piston, Ring, Connecting Rod.

I'm little confused with co-rod direction because I couldn;t see the original's. It was in pieces. So i'm hoping if someone can help me with some pics to see which way the con-rod should go.

I will appreciate.

Hmm... good question. Can you take a pic of the rod?

I thought the rod is the same either way, on the .55
It might be different you say? Have not had mine apart that much yet, curious also.

The piston is directional for sure, I had it apart to inspect when new.( But not completely to see the con rod fully)

The exploded view looks as if the bottom of the rod is bigger but,
could be an illusion. If it is, the bigger end goes to the crank.

Cheers,
Raven

The lower end of the connecting rod will have a larger hole than the upper end. When you look at the hole, one side has the brass bushing milled flush with the side of the connecting rod, the other side has a small bevel on the inside rim of the hole. The side that's milled flush goes towards the rear cover of the engine.

OK,

I took apart my engine again and look for the right directions and I'm very grateful to you all for your help espacially bbaxter because he is right on.
Yes, the con-rod is not same on both sides.
The crank side end, there are two orieentations.
One side brass bushing is flat and one side is bavel.
The bavel side faces the crank or carb. The flat side faces towards the back plate.

I haven't run it yet I am sure it should be ok now.
I thought I should share this exprecience.
