i have been flying my 600 heli bug for 9 months. then one day before a flight i noticed the auto rotation unit locked up. i bought a new one way bearing and sleeve. i installed them and after 3 flights the new parts locked up again. i freed up the sleeve in the bearing and flew two more flights it locked up yesterday. last night i freed the unit up and flew today. after the first flight it again locked up. so this evening i degreased the bearing and took 600 wet/dry sand paper with oil and sanded the sleeve. then reapplied tri-flow lub to the bearing.

anyone else having trouble with the sleeve locking up in the bearing.

I have been using this...

Never had a problem put some grease then once in a while some tri-flow oil thats it.

So far so good!

The KDE OWB is the best I have found, and I got to try a lot lol. I texture the sleeve similar to what you did, a 45 degree hone pattern seems to work better than the Align straight grind pattern. Removed all grease and used ATF, could not fly 15 flights before, now have 125 flights on the same OWB.

i took the auto unit out and degreased the one way bearing. then took my aircompressor and blew the bearing out. then degreased the bearing again. then cleaned it real well. then a light coating of tri-flow. on tuesday i flew it. the one way bearing didn't lock up. flew a second flight still free. if it warms up enought this weekend i will fly it again. if it does lock up again, i will go to boca bearing and try theirs.

boca bearings , here i come. i went to the field today with a fresh gallon of gas to take advantage of the great weather. well after the first flight the align bearing locked up the main shaft again.

anyone
i was looking at boca bearing. there are 3 diff. types of one way bearings. one is the standard bearing, the second bearing has a series of 3 bearings, a space and 3 more bearing around the unit. the last bearing has what appears to be heavier duty bearings but fewier. which would be the best.

You may also want to check McMaster Carr
Their bearings are better than Boca Bearings though probably more expensive. I got some bearings from them for my Bergen clutch bearing block, much better quality than stock but you pay for them too, about $45 for the 3 shipped (where stock was $5 a piece).

The one way failed on my Trex 700 last week. The sleeve come loose then autorotation landing. I think there is no alternative for it.

well i installed another one way bearing in the auto unit. lubed it up well. it was silky smooth. i flew one flight all was good. on the second flight the bearing locked up again. i don't understand why. i have not crashed the heli and the bearings started locking up after 9 months of flying. i have tried synth. grease, tri-flow oil, liquid graphite and transmission fluid.

Have you tried the KDE bearing/ATF/new sleeve? Once again, it is the best combo I have found.

I have a KDE bearing holder but thats not the problem. i have gone through 3 align bearings. this evening i installed a new boca bearing and sleeve. when i got the align bearing out a needle roller fell out of the bearning. so now again the auto unit is super smooth

Not the holder, KDE offers a OWB, it will not fall apart and lock up as easily as the Align OWB will.
