I am new to the Quark gyro.

I have the "simplex" adapter + the USB interface, and I downloaded the software from the Spartan web site.
The gyro is running the latest version of code.

It is installed on Raptor 90 with an OS Max .91 HZ-PS

The gyro powers up and seems to be working fine in all modes of flight - no issues (yet)

On power up, everything seems normal:
The status LED alternates from blue to red, then lights up steady blue - AVCS mode.
If I flip the gain switch, it tuns to steady red - Rate mode.

When I have the heli on the bench, I power up and let the gyro initialize.
Then I move the rudder stick full left - the blue status LED changes from a stead blue to a continuous 2 flash-pause sequence as long as I hold the rudder over.
When I center the stick, the status LED goes back steady blue.
If I move the stick right - same as if I moved it to the left - 2 blue flash.

The manual has only two listings for 2 blue flash:
AVCS mode - rudder stick not centered (operating mode)
or,
Gyro not receiving gain signal (Error code)
I assume these alerts (2 blue flashes) will be present at startup.

Why would the status LED repeat the 2 blink blue flash when I move the stick off center?

Maybe I am not understanding, but you wrote the manual states that it will do the 2 blue flash when the rudder stick is not centered in ACVS mode. Is this not what you are doing?

I guess I may be mis-understanding the manual.

I assumed it would do the "2-Flash when the stick is not centered in AVCS mode" only at startup - as a warning that the stick was not centered when it initialized. EG: You bump the stick while gyro is powering up.

It didn't think it would do it every time the rudder stick was moved off center after it was initialized.

Is there a Quark user that can confirm this?

I have a GY-502, and it does something similar. It has an (a) displayed which stands for avcs, and it only displays when the stick is centered. When the stick is off center it is a black square. I am sure a Quark user will chime in and let us know for sure though

Read your own post for the answer:
The manual has only two listings for 2 blue flash:
AVCS mode - rudder stick not centered (operating mode)
In HH mode, gyros "learn" the rudder neutral pulse width each time you apply power and let them initialize. (This is why you NEVER use rudder trim AFTER the gyro has initialized, or different rudder trim settings between flight modes -- move the "learned" neutral setting after the gyro figured it out, it no longer "knows" where neutral moved to).

Once they learn that neutral setting, if you deviate FROM that setting, the gyro is going to blink at you. The old standby-GY401 does the same thing. Kind of a sanity check to let you know that your rudder channel is no longer outputting a "neutral" width pulse. Perhaps a reminder that one or more of your rudder trim settings has been changed after initialization -- maybe an errant flight mode trim setting.
