I checked out that link. It's a good looking head. I just really want a scale head that teeters. I'm back to building my vario UH1D and it would be so cool with a true teetering scale head...

All helis and planes have an expiration date stamped on them...you only find it after you crash!!

yep, just the change to flybarless looks so good but a true "Scale" head would help take it over the top..!!

Pity this head is no longer in production, best looking scale head ever produced for the jet ranger and as simple as a feathering shaft head.It had teetering and rubber damping.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. Put a huey flybar assembly on it and it would be perfect!!

It was a Kavan head, they did several variants, one with a pure hiller mix and ones with bell/hiller mix.It.s a pity they're still not available.

my zealous is a pure hiller mix, it makes for a very stable head ideal for scale. They must of copied the kavan head setup.

It is a real pleasure to fly..

A friend of mine had the Kavan jetranger a long time ago..
Would love to see an original one now and have a go at flying it without the technology we have today..

Kavan head
The aluminum paddles on the first Kavan head were just weights, they later made a hiller upgrade.Got it but never put it on.There wasn't any heli flight instructors in 1974 and it was soon in pieces.
The blade holders are 14 mm ,but I would not trust my scaler to it.
The picture shows a 800 mm Razor pro blade, its lost in the blade holder.
I would not fly the Kavan Ranger today if it was still intact,it was a potato chip.

When that head came out all you had were wooden blades which are light compared to today's blades,it should have been beefed up.

An example of a supreme scale head, this time by Hirobo,as rare as gold dust.

mine flew pretty good. I think the biggest issue was having to build the main blades and weigh and balance them correctly.

I sure wish I still had mine. Here is my son Roy Daniel at ten yrs of age, he is now 36 (giving away my age LOL)

Thats funny, somewhere I have much the same photo with my oldest daughter holding it. she was 11,now 48.
Your Ranger had a much better paint job than mine.I only had two colors, blue and white. It was a beautiful machine at the time, and my first venture into rc.

the hirobo head looks like an exact copy of the Kavan head only with cast parts.
