So, who has enough confidence to try out the new ICE 2 ESCs? They claim that the issues are fixed, and really, if you look feature for feature, there is nothing that touches the CC ESCs for:

Data logging
Good governor (a bit of a pain to setup)
Auto Bailout
Updateable firmware
Great interface
Ability to randomly start campfires and roast marshmallows

Seriously though, if it weren't for the reliability issues with the original ICE series, these things would be on top. I've got a new Ice 2 80HV coming to my house with the intention of putting it on my Logo 600. It's more than enough ESC for it with my flying, and I'd really like to have the auto bailout feature.

I'm just not positive that I can bring myself to pull off my Jive to put it on. After having an old version BBQ itself in my Furion, and knowing how dead solid the Jive is, it's a tough decision to make. I may fire it up on the bench (pun not intended) minus blades with an extinguisher handy, and fly the first few flights with old blades and no canopy at a low hover until I am comfortable trusting it. A fire on a Logo is pretty catastrophic since it often melts the frames.

Or I'll just accept that all of my autos will continue to be committed like they have for the past few years and leave the Jive on. That would be sad since I was getting into inverted and aerobatic autos with my glow helis prior to going all electric, and I just don't trust myself to do those with no bailout plan.

I have several flights across 2 birds on the ICE2 80hv's and so far all is good. I'm just a little concerned about high temps in tight cowls (169 peak so far on a trex 600efl pro) but the logs don't indicate any concerns.

I've been using one of the New ICE2 120HV's on my Synergy E6/7 and it's been performing flawlessly! Really impressed with the ESC and the performance of it. The data logging and setupand tunability through the Castle Link PC interface is excellent.

Feature for Feature the Castle ESC's are hard to beat!

I got my two ICE2 120HV units back this week and I'm about to start soldering on some new connectors. One of the two units has a new style label on it whilst the other has an older style (or original type) label, but both clearly state that they are ICE 2 controllers.

+1

I'll be esc shopping in the near future.

Current considerations are Scorpion HV 130, YGE HV 120. CC is a very distant 3rd.

I do still like the functionality of the CC's but am very hesitant
given the recent history.

I guess I'll see what the consensus is when I'm ready to pull the trigger.

It would be nice that if you had a problem you could just send the ESC to Kansas instead of to Germany. I really do hope they have it figured out this time.

I like castle products and I do like the ice esc features...when its working its great!

I hope their gate driver upgrade is a solid patch for their product line.

I respect that castle keeps over 100 us people employed! I prefer to keep my $ in the usa!

just got my 80HV back from CC last week. Flew a good 6 flights thru it this weekend, and it's working pretty great.
While it was away, i invested in a Kontron 80HV... and WOW what a great ESC. I was very skeptical of better performance claims from Kontron, but i must truly admit... The BEST ESC on the market for sure.
Well due to an unfortunate crash... that took out my Kontron ... back to the CC, and so-far-so-good. It's running cool, both motor and ESC, even cooler than it ran before i sent i back to Castle. The only noticeable deficiency is the quality of the governor... and maybe a bit less power transfer to the motor... so now i'll be spending MANY flights trying to get it to run like that beloved Kontron!

You definitely get less power from a CC. Every one I've replaced with a Jive I've dropped a pinion size on.

I've decided to give it a shot on my Logo. Hopefully they really have solved the problems.

You have to over gear a castle to get gov constancy and power.

The castle has the same pwr as kontronik if setup correctly.

If you're gearing the Castle taller than Kontronik, you are putting it at a mechanical disadvantage right off the bat, not to mention your governor gain will likely end up in a less than optimal range. This is probably the biggest mistake I've seen people fall for when setting up their power systems.

Here is my Logo 600, running a CC ICE 120HV V1, Scorpion HKIII 4035-560/12T pinion(the "common" 10S setup). Over 200 flights and still going strong.

Didn't have to, first post said nothing matches it.

Sure nothing matches it, no 2 are indentical from different manufacturers.

If the gov was plug and play like KT and had BEC for same price i think it would be killer, up until then.....
