Try reloading the v3 firmware before deciding to load previous version.
I loaded v3 on perfectly working beam 6hv and x5. While x5 worked as expected, 6hv developed tail twitching as if it was on a seisure. It felt if the tail was on a inteemittent contact loss. I changes the tail and it did the same thing. So i knew it was not the servo. I was going to go back to v1 but decided to load v3 one more time. It cleaned up the tail problem. It makes no sense that currupt file reported ok after the upgrade. But it worked well after it.
Beam behaved badly as if the heli had developed a vibe issue. Again, reloading solved it.

Did you do a full reset on your unit before the V3 download?

No. lt resets everything to default on major version changes.

One would think. I've even had the scenario where after a V3 update and many flights later, the cyclic ring would change "dimension" on me. I basically lost half my elevator throw. Rather than re-update with V3 (or regress to V2) I just re-set it up. Never had the same issue again with this particular unit (have 5 of them). I have no doubt you experienced some "anomoly". Try doing the set-up next time before doing another V3 update - would be interesting to hear your experiences.

Every time I update the firmware, I go through the setup as if the unit was new. So, when I first updated to V3, I did the setup, and after reloading the v3, again a new setup with the head removed etc.

Same procedure here. I have a lot of faith in Freakware and the BeastX but strange things have been noticed. Should this happen to you again it would be interesting to simply go thru the setup again rather than the V3 firmware update and setup. I'm sure I'm not the only one in hobbyland that has noticed "unexpected" results. I wasn't interested in drawing negative attention to a great product, and, as an old dog code slinger no longer interested in QA and repetition.

I updated many of the BeastX at our local field and some at events. Early on I had a similar tail experience to Benny. I did a factory reset and loaded the firmware again to fix it.

Sticking with what worked for me, I now try to load the firmware 2x and factory reset if the Data and Application version are changing. It may be unnecessary but it only takes a few extra seconds and gives me 100% confidence that there will not be an issue.

Initially, I thought it was just a coincidence between the tail servo going bad and the firmware upgrade on 6HV. On beam, since it was a rebuild and the firmware upgrade, again, I thought maybe there was something I missed vibe wise.

But, if you have to make a drastic changes before and after the update, suspect the firmware first before blaming your heli or other electronics.
