Just purchased a MiniTitan SE and Cobra fuselage set up.. Trying to get it set up and I had a few questions..

It's got a OBL 29/37-10 motor (3700KV), 150 tooth maingear, 13tooth pinion (as recommended by TT) and using 3s batteries..

Using the head speed calculator, I should be running around 2800 rpm with the above combo..

I am reaching 2700 rpm or so just at 70% throttle... at 90%, the headspeed is above 3000...

I've read that you should gear it so that the optimum headspeed is reached at 90-100% throttle..?? What does it matter where the transmitter percentage is as long as the headspeed is turning appropriately for efficiency??

Any comments are welcome..

Thx

It's wrong
If you had a 29/35/10 motor you should be around 2800rpm head speed with a 13T pinion.
Do it over again with this.

Headspeed with 29/37-10 motor and 13 tooth pinion
Okay, thanks..

Re-ran the calculation using MrMel's program and here is what I came up with using 80% efficiency..I am not using a governor...

(calculated for 100% throttle curve)
Hover RPM at beginning of flight: 3779
Hover RPM at middle of flight: 3480
Hover RPM at end of flight: 3359

So, I suppose it is hard on the ESC to run at 70% throttle curve??

Is there a problem with dropping down one or two tooth on the pinion? and run 80-85%. Your not going to have to much cooling with that fuselage.

I may have to do that.. Haven't looked into what other pinions are available as I'm new to this particular heli...

10-11 tooth seems reasonable..

It worked well
Installed the 11 tooth pinion and the ESC and motor now just warm after 4 min!

Throttle curves are up to 85-90%..

Thx
