Just wanted to share my really awesome MCPX conversion. Just installed the "big" Wow Hobbies motor (the HP05) and flew it this morning. This little machine defies description! Here's the specifics for those that want supreme performance from their MCPX:

From Wow Hobbies:
HP05 outrunner
EP7A ESC
"Steve Chip" signal converter.

Micro heli:
Swash, hub and grips.

From Horizon:
SR120 tail motor

Only other mods are a solid 2mm tail boom, solid carbon 3mm mainshaft and my too-cool canopy mount rods beef up (see pics). For those installing the outrunner motors you MUST remove all traces of the stock motor mount leaving just the flat bottom plate. Also the frame reinforcements fore and aft must be cupped out (see pic). And if you are running the 9t pinion the mount screw holes must be elongated to allow the motor to move farther away from the main gear for proper mesh.

I'm also using the awesome Turnegy 30c batts. Just FYI, I just put my tachometer on it and read 6300 with a full batt, collective zero.

One last thing I want to mention: when configured in this manner the heli will be quite tail heavy. THIS DOES NOT MATTER. Because of the FBL system it flies nothing less than fan-fricken-tastic.

Are you sliding the Turnigy battery all way forward past the "stock" location?

I break the tabs off of the sides of the plastic battery cap. This allows me to slide them in another 1/4 inch.

I feel no need to do anything else from a balance standpoint. The heli flies GREAT.

The canopy mount mod seems to use some kind of Area 51 alien technology.

I just did that same mod my self with the same kit. works awsome, but i just heard from someone to be carful when you crash that the aileron and pitch servos may get damaged. Because they are so close to the can, and they should be shimed out a bit. althouth i have put mine in on the grass and no damage so far.

I've crashed mine a few times with no ill effect.

The really great news is, with all the main and tail power I now have I barely ever crash anymore. The weak tail caused me dozens of crashes.

Nice-I have the setup but the yellow motor lead came undone and I have to solder it back on-sucks considering how much the Wow upgrade is-and I ordered a Rakon frame as well as the Microheli-glad to hear you like it-how did you attach the Steve to the MCPX main board?
