If I could fly that well I would be happy. After 4 years I cant even do a full circuit. I still have my logo but have gone back to planes which I enjoy more, less stress. My heli expirience has made me a better plane pilot! Dave

There are certain things that simply do not come with number of years in flying.

Banked circuits are one of them. It is much like learning hover, which is balancing in a single spot.

Circuit is trying to balance all the forces while in a circular motion.
If a rainbow requires a constant pitch (so it does not count) and needs only elevator to get the motion right.

Circuit requires balancing all four channels simultaneously. But, good news is that it can be learned almost right off the bat if you can move a heli in forward flight.

Simulator comes in extremely handy for this learning. PM me if interested in learning the circuits and it's variations.

What I've found out is that more of smack does not really improve the core skills. But, doing the circuits constantly improve your skills every time. But, not doing them seem to take away that core confidence.

Flying only couple of times this year and not much more last year has degraded the little skill I had to a hovering level. While I struggle to do circuits, thing like piro-flips, piro rainbows, and piro loops are still doable.

Give yourself an hour of sim doing nothing but circuits, I will guarantee that you will get it right within one week.

Jeff, you must be at the plateau I've heard so much about. I wouldn't know first hand and I'm not anywhere near the point of flying that you are, but you do alright, so don't be hard on yourself. As some of my buddies tell me, stick time man! That's what you need. And like others have said, keep it fun.

I can put Heli in any attitude with no loss of orientation . I guess I need a personal trainer to guide into a flight pattern or a routine. Yes I could get cleaner on specific tricks but that's the easy part for me . I flew all day today and did have a great time .

I stole it ,flew it and gave it back ;)

i don't know about you! but i would be more comfortable if i was not flying a probably $5000 turbine heli. I've found that when learning new things that you have to be willing to sacrifice your machine. how long have you been flying Jeff? you look like your doing great to me and i can be little judgemental at times especially toward my own flying even though every one is telling me I'm doing awesome! i still think i should be a lot further along than i am! but you have to take the advise of others, and stop criticizing your self so much and start having fun! and that's when you start learning new things and start getting better. remember things happen easier when you are having fun and that's what this hobby is all about!

you don't need a trainer because that's what makes this hobby interesting every body has there own rhythm or style, IE. bobby watts,Bert kammerer and tareq alsaadi. all of there flying styles are different but interesting in there own way! diversity is key! be who you are and just fly what's on your mind! and make your own difference in flying styles.

Jeff no offense to your field but I tried flying there and found it to be really difficult. have you tried flying somewhere else other than Dyer Park? you have the run way for the planes on your right and they fly in your space then you always over the tree line near the highway. I would have found it difficult to learn there.

This is the best description I have read. Good advice. It worked for me.

IT's what I do.

Jeff, I would recommend practicing smooth circuits both upright and inverted. Basically get awesomely good at flying smooth and switching between inverted and right side up and then start to mix in manuevers.

This was today . Its little sloppy but I can clean up and smooth with time I just don't feel transitions between tricks are smooth enough.
