Hello to all,

I just purchase this great little heli, needed something small for my local field, I am a nitro flyer so electric is totally new for me.
1. I am in the market for an ESC for this bird, I have conducted searches in this forum and found many pilots useing the CC Ice-lite 50 running with a 8 or 10 Scorp, motor on 350 Radix blades. Heres what I am looking at for my setup, 8 or 10 Scorp, motor (3S) battery system, 350/blades, and Futaba CGY750 FBL unit ( I have a Futaba 12FG Radio), also looking the MKS 95 servos. Futaba BLS257 for the tail.
2. ESC I am looking at Kontronic Jive 60LV, Koby 55LV, YGE 60, and the new CC 50 HV.
3. Looking for a soft start, and a great governor for starters.

Please do share your input.

I run Kontronic 40. Great soft start, great governor. No parameters to set. Comes with price though.

Hi.

If you want to run 3S, then the -8 motor is what you want. The -10 is for 4S only.
The reason why most people run the ICE or ICE lite 50 is because they work very well for this application. You should never exceed or even come close to the rated capacity of the CC ICE 50 esc's on this heli. If you do, you have a big problem some where. The BEC on the ice 50's will do 6v without an issue.

If you are going to be swinging 350's on a 3S setup, expect shorter flight times and make sure your batteries are high C and in good condition.

The soft start and gov on the CC 50 esc's work great. There is a reason both Curtis and Nick run these esc's on their little raves.

Hope this helps you out a bit.

Paul.

Thanks Paul, and to all for your input. Would the New CC Ice 50HV be a good ESC for the 3S, might look at the 4S setup with a 10 Scrop, motor as well.

No, it does not. I run separate BEC for 6v.

My guess is that because the current Ice50 series has no problem on either 3S or 4S, the HV version will be also work just fine.

I'm running a 3s setup with the scorpion 2221-6 on a 13t pinion. I also have a CC 50 lite and the bec set to 6v with a step down for my bls257.

I really like this setup feels lighter then my 4s setup. But both are equally fun

If you want to run 4s I'd go with the -8.

Good luck your gunna love it!!

Do any of my choices of ESC have a built in BEC that I could adjust ?, would like to do 5v - 6V to the servos Futaba 9257, MKS95,and Airtronics 94809 are what Im looking at for the cyclic. As I would need a step down for the tail Fut: BLS257 any ideas there.

Switching BEC
The Phoenix Ice switching BEC output is factory set to 5.0V. Users may use Castle Link to select their desired voltage between 5.0V and 7.0V, in 0.1V increments.

Airtronics 94809 work great on 6v!

I have a discontinued Kora 15-14, it was in my Lepton now to be in my new Protos. They are nice motors! Very high quality. You should get one and tell us! That said I'm a "Scorpion" man through and thru. Love their motors. I've used the -6 and -8 motors on 3s in various helis and the -10 Next D branded one on 4s in my Rave. Also have a -560 in my Logo 600 and a 4525LE in my TDR. Can't go wrong with them.

Anyone use the New Kora 15-10 heli motor ? . Also I was looking a carbon tail push rod for this heli, I will use the boom mount for a Fut: BLS 9257 tail servo.

I don't know much about the motor but the carbon tail rod is not needed. The stock one works very good for the boom mounted tail servo.

The Futaba 9257 is an excellent tail servo for 450 helis, really can't fault it in any way. The boom mount is especially recommended if you run a 4s (heavier) pack as it helps balance the Rave. I have no issues with the wire pushrod. How do th specs compare between the Kora and Scorpion motors?

I will post the spec's later @ work now the Kora motor is heavy and not sure what 4s or 6s setup as it has a low kv rating.
Thanks for the feed back, are there any other motors out there that is good with the Rave 450 4s. Scorp's and Viper, I know about.
