I’m starting to build a Logo 600SE. It’s my first large electric and I have a need to learn everything I can before I just start buying components. I’m committed to doing all necessary math and understanding exactly how everything works together first. The only thing I know for sure is I want to run 693 blades. Running the 693s means I’ll have a targeted head speed of 1800 rpm. Beyond that I’m leaning towards 12s and a Kontronic ESC.
My question is how do you get started putting all of this together? What are the parameters you’re looking at when you start making decisions on what to buy? What determines the motor you buy? Can anyone point me to a “beginners guide” somewhere online?
Help me out here guys! I’m the last nitro in the club and they’re starting to turn on me! LOL

Ok you need to know the gear ratios that are available for that heli, that is worked out by dividing the number of main gear teeth by the number of pinion teeth so you need to find out what pinions are available.

Motor Kv is how many rpm the motor will spin per volt, in your case 44.4v (12s).

Now you can work out the max head rpm at 100%.

Kontronik ESC's only require 10% over head to govern affectively but 15% would be better. So your after 1800 rpm, 10% is 180 so thats 1980 rpm, this is what you want to be aiming for minimum at 100%, personally ide aim for 2000-2050 at 100% then govern to 1800.

CC ESC's require around 20% overhead to govern affectively.

60% of the time, it works every time!

Ok 600SE has a 106T main gear and im guessing the pinions don't go much smaller than 10T?

If your governing to 1800 you don't want much higher than a 500kv motor, 450kv would be ideal as you would have more pinion options.

Cheapest option but still a good motor would be the Align 700MX 470kv motor. Then it would be the Scorpion 4035 500kv motor as the next expensive. Then if you wanted to go mad you could look at the Kontronik Pyro 700 450kv.

60% of the time, it works every time!

Thanks Richard!
That's exactly the kind of info I was looking for to get me started.

Another option on your motor selection for a 12s setup on the Logo 600se, Scorpion 5025-440. It has unboggable(if that's a word) power. I have been very happy with its extreme power/performance. It eats up everything that I have ever thrown at it.

Im unsure on battery size for the 600SE but I think the trend is to go for 4000mah if going 12s and 5000mah if going 10s.

Can you tell me more about your setup? What ESC are you running? What kind of flight times are you getting? Batteries?
Does that 5025-440 fit in the heli frame okay? The SE specs on Readyheli call out a maximum motor diameter of 56mm but the 5025-440 is 61mm.

Thanks guys for your help.

kruuzn,

My Logo600se setup - Scorpion 5025-440 CC 80HV 12s 4000mah. My flight times vary greatly depending on how I'm flying. Mild 3d gets me 6 min. and big air & fast FF about 7 min. The motor fits but I had to loosen the frame screws and open it up slightly for it to clear the frame. Once in place it clears without any modifications. It just swapped out my CC 80HV for a YGE 90HV last week so that I could utilize the vbar gov. but I haven't gotten a chance to fly it yet.
