A logo and protos are plastic framed helis, their quietness doesn't come from the belt. During tail pitch changes you can hear the belt whine whereas a torque tube makes not a sound. Or when going along fast side ways you can hear the tail whining.
Really? They are both available either carbon or plastic, and mine are carbon, and quiet. Nothing to do with plastic.

How long until people start throwing 710 blades? I think these crazy headspeeds are a little bit unsafe. Maybe not 2250, but 2500rpm has got to put tremendous stress on the blade root.

Justin, Have you ever broke a blade root in a crash ?

There were issues with blade bolts bending when 4mm was the norm, but with 5mm blade bolts there have been no issues.

... I would not suggest much over 2250 on a 700. Something has to give eventually.

Any news about how much the boom costs??
I asked the same question on the other thread and seeing no answers.
Either, no one knows, or it is darn too expensive, and they don't want the cat out of the bag. ( speculating )

BTW,
Tail noise you hear is a function of the RPM and the size and shape of the tail blades. TRex's have a lower tail ratio, so even at higher head speeds the tail sound is lower. The goblin maybe a higher ratio, and therefore the more buzz at those crazy head RPMs. At a head speed below 2000, the buzz would be much lower, but the tail would still be nicely locked.

ALSO,
Lift from the rotor goes through the heli as pressure waves, when the waves get disturbed from a close object causes splatter, and therefore MORE noise. The fatter boom is creating more noise.
In addition the big boom may be giving you a resonance like a megaphone.

Does it matter? Not if you like the sound it makes.

If you take in consideration:

Low part count
+
Molded car$bon fi$ber boom with special tooling/machining to make the mounting points at both ends
= $$$$boom$$$$

There is no way around it, even if the boom is painted in the mold, the material and work going into it makes it an expensive part. But how expensive? (I would guess between $80 and $150 depending on the process)

Like I said, If you like to smack the ground often, fly a TRex. Pretty Green Goblins, TDRs, Shapes or Diabolos are not made for crashing.
