For me it seems the helicopter flys better with the gain on a switch and set to a 100 or so. My first few flights on my 600n had the gain being set by the GT5 and it was at 49. The heli seemed to be all over the place. I wish the manual addressed the gain a little more and what settings affect it.

The 600n flew really well in 20+mph winds. Being new to FBL I like the way it rolls and flips without having to make corrects. Gonna need to buy a few more cases of fuel as I see my airplanes sitting for awhile.

The total gain needs to be at 100%. If you have been flying around with it at 49% the result is all your gains i.e. tail, cyclic are reduced to 49% of the value..

The total gain is a feature that was put in as a bailout mechanism when setting up the heli and have too higher gain causing wobbles you can flick a switch and reduce all the gains so you can gain control again.

Once you are happy with your GT5 setup just leave the total gain at 100% and you can even unbind the switch for total gain too..

Question on the gain,
I noticed that you can make the background of the gain (small square in the corner) go from a blace backgound to a white background. I seen it mentioned a few times in some posts, but never really understood what it means. Can someone explain this to me, as the manual does not.

It has to be on black background.some say it makes no difference, i've done a couple and say it does, my tail would hold only one way with rainbows etc then wipe out the other if on white.Common sense may not be common after all

Cyclic pitch?
Just trying to get an idea of cyclic pitch. I have a beastx which works by setting 6deg at the blue light but of course the max cyclic is more then where the blue light is.

With the GT5 it's possible to set the max on my freya I started at 10 I've taken it back to 7deg. Had a friend with a x50 set at close to 6deg.

What are you guys using?

I'm still having it setup on my T600N and still fully satisfied with the performance!
I've been working on my piro circles lately and I can't complain about tail consistency.
Piro equalization (or whatever its called) also works just as it should.
If you haven't bought it yet, just go for it !

I've got mine working great on my E7 Synergy , must be up around 40 flights not including the first 6-10 intial set-up flights .
Seems to work flawlessly with the S-Bus system .
Only issue I need to try to tune out is a tiny bit of bounce on hard collective stops such as rainbows etc .
I'm pretty confident as of right now , I'll be using another GT5 in my next FBL model build , more than likely the up coming Synergy E5 .

I ve got mine on a new X50 nitro FBL...m completely new to FBL, and a sports/light 3D flier ...manual isnt the easiest document to learn from...spent quite few days thinking things over and over..but, as soon as i managed to set cyclic at around 6deg and pitch at around 10deg, everything went fine...rest of the settings (P / I / D) were set as per manual, at their lower limits...m very happy with its performance after a gallon o fuel, ll start increasing the P/I values any time...

Setting up the GT5 on a new Gaui X5. Unsure about something. The cylic A/E are at 10 degrees full throw, but the compensation for A/E is no where near as agressive when tilting the heli to check it. Any ideas on the setting that effects the throws for the compensation of the system to stabilize the swash?

That is normal when the blades are not turning. Once it is turning you will get the movement you setup.

So I tried the P and I settings of 40 for all. When I spool up all looks good, then when it just starts to get light on the feet the swash tilts one way or the other.
Removed and put the FB back on for now so that I can get flying rather than trying to get this issue taken care off. Will try again once I get my other heli back in the air. Thinking of doing a reset again but this time sticking with the default P and I settings and the AIL and ELE agility settings. Will get it working good again soon.

Just reporting back. Maidened the Gaui X5 today with the GT5 system. Proud to say that it flew. This is my first flybarless system and I realized I bit off more than I could chew with the programming. Took me 3 days to understand the GT5. I really like it. The amount of parameters and settings seems endless which I think is great.

Each pack, I dialed in a little of this or a little less of that to get a better feel familiar to a FB heli--My last was a 6HV.

Packs are charging now. One thing I can recommend is to not mess with the recommendation in the manual of 60 total gain value with a switch to 100 on the display once in the air. Start with 100 gain on the display in the black background right off the bat and try the toned down P/I (40/30) values recommended- then go from there. My pitch range is -10 +10 and cyclic about 8 deg. Tail holds great, but still messing around with the speed of the tail to get it nice and smooth on rudder.

I hope this is encouraging to anyone thinking about buying this system. It is very advanced, but a great value; especially with programming done right on the touch pad. I would buy it again. Just consider it a challenge.......and don't dottle on take off. Headspeed up at 0 degrees and get it off the ground with confidence. Lot's of fun.

After I spend a few weeks with it, I think I will try and make a comprehensive video explaining my simpleton thought process in making the GT5 work for me. I don't think I have seen a thorough video of this system and that was tough for a FBL rookie like me.
