It isn't the airplanes fault it is more dangerous, it's the users...
ding ding ding ding

Winner!

it all comes down to: "stupid is as stupid does"
This weekend a plank pilot was doing a maidem. I watched him takeoff and turned my head thinking it'll go in in the next minute. 20 seconds later I hear him yelling "the ailerons are backwards" I ran and took over ( I can fly one channel reversed) to discover, the elevator was so off you could not arrest a stall at full down

and

the rudder was backwards too!
After fighting for ~6 seconds I cut throttle and let it go in...

How did he managed to gain altitude and stay up for almost a minute defies logic.

"Get this guy a jockstrap and a cookie!"

With foamies and toy Helis I feel people are getting where they think all rc planes and helis are toys . The number of pilots flying Helis to planes is narrowing , it's getting cheaper and easier to get into both . The what ifs can drive you crazy but always need to keep in mind what could happen so you stay safe .

I stole it ,flew it and gave it back ;)

It's truly unbelievable that someone would drive to a field, assemble a plane, and take off in front of spectators AND NEVER DO A CONTROL CHECK (let alone a range check). I mean, he had to have spent quite some time measuring control throws and setting subtrims, right?

I got hit with a paper airplane once, does that count?

Which is worse, ignorance or apathy? I don't know and I don't care!

It was a 2-3lbs electric foamy ARF spitfire, probably came RX ready, with servos and pushrods installed. The same individual flew one plane out of the park/field, and passed the interstate 1 mile east of us...

I was very busy, otherwise I would have noticed, stopped, and helped him. He did retrieve the airplane out of the gardens 1/4 mile away.

Have to keep an eye on him next time.

We fly in a city park field approved for model airplanes; anyone with AMA can fly here. Only 2 or 3 in a club of 70 members dare to ask the tough questions: "do you need help?" or "have your flown before?"

The local window salesman emailed this pic to me. Happened at a local race track where a pilot was buzzing the crowd between races. Luckily the person was bent over getting their camera when the plane hit.

I'm sorry but a idiot like that has no business operating a R/C plane or for that matter anything else. It is clear they have no respect for the people in the crowd or grasp on what could and did happen. This idiot just got lucky that on this day no one got hurt , what a dumb a__!

You must not fly with many plankers, especially old ones!

+1 again for Jason,
I was at our field recently with one of the *old timers*.. his plane was all over the place in the air. We got it down and he told me another one of the *members* told him to make the plane fly really good, put 90-100% expo in??? his elev and ail were either ON or OFF.. there was no in between. luckilly as it where, I had him chop throttle and just let it come in. He had no movement at all until he hit that expo point then it was almost full throw. I think getting hit with either is going to do some damage, but, I am definately much more scared of Helis. Why.. I cant even tell you, other then I keep thinking if that thing hits me in the head or neck, its over. LOL I've been hit by a couple smaller planes, and never had any real damage done other then a few bruises. I have to agree though that most is the pilot. I watch guys at the field that when they fly, I open my truck door and stand behind it for a smoke till they are done cause you never know where the hell the heli is going to be..
