I just bought XTR 5.02 with this dongle. I am using DX7 with windows 7 and having nothing but trouble ( over 5 hours spent.)

First of all will this dongle work with DX7?

It looks like I have to install the program on an XP system then copy it onto my windows 7 PC. Another problem is I dont have a XP system but I have an old laptop with Vista on it ( i also tried installing on this same problem can find d3brm.dll file ).
I can wipe the drive on this laptop and install XP but I want to make sure this will work before I spend another few hours wasted.

Thanks for any help

Yes, that dongle will work with a DX7 (not DX7se).

In order to install XTR on my vista machine, I had to install on XP and then copy it to the vista machine. But, I thought a newer release of the install package had cured this problem. Since I didn't need it, I never tried. Maybe someone else that has installed directly on Vista can comment.

Xtr
Hi PH7,
yes I have DX7.
I downloaded 5.03(?) first. Installed and it was for creating heli's not the actual Simm even though it says " installing flight simm" and " Flight simm installed" .
So I downloaded 5.04. This worked on Win7 but it says I need to upgrade my dongle to use it. Typical.

Thanks for your reply. I will put XP on the laptopn and do that.
If you see a knackered laptop and flight simm on ebay you know what happened!!

Ill let you know buddy thanks....

You can download the latest installer for your dongle compatible version from http://www.simwerk.de. It sould install with no problems on post- xp operating systems.

For that dongle the latest version compatible was 5.03, if my memory does not fail.

Just one thing: in windows 7 non-signed drivers do not work unless you start the system with "enable unisgned drivers" option (hit F8 when booting). I don't know if there are newer versions (signed) of the driver to avoid this problem.

Is there a life outside the sim?

hi pelos,
I did download 5.03 as I siad. After I installed it was only
the model creator not the simm. It says it was installing the simm
but after install it was only the creator. I double checked this.

I then installed the 5.04 but that would not work with my dongle ( what a stupid name!).

AS its working fine now and I am already after downloading lots of models and sceneries I am leaving alone.
