Has anyone see a 12 volt charger that could be used on the DX8.

If you are talking about the stock NiMH pack I'd take it out of the TX and charge it with a standard charger (carefully watching it for heat). The optional lipo - I wouldn't charge that with anything other than the stock charger in the DX8.

I do have the LiPo.... In the manual it says you can charge with any 12 volt source as the transmitter has a built in charger.

I don't remember what the output is from the wall wart - check that. I'd be comfortable charging at a higher rate than what it puts out but probably not go higher than say 500mah rate. I don't know what the balancing electronics on the lipo pack can handle.

Are you looking to field charge the radio? I wouldn't think you'd need to do that since a charged lipo should last a month or more of typical flying I'd think. I've only charge my lipo once since getting it.

All you need is a straight thru 12V auto cord with the correct size end and a positive tip. The charge circuit in the radio will handle the battery pack type and current limit. These are not done by the power pack.

I bought a second NiMH battery and changed
the plugs so I could use my Thunder AC6 charger.

I like the faster charge rate and knowing how
many Mah I put in the battery.

Works for me.

rumbleweed,
Does not need to be a positive tip. The charger will accept either positive or negative on the center pin. The built in charger sorts this out.

What everybody else has said...

and for completeness the DX8 AC/DC adapter specs are...

Input - 100-240VAC 50-60Hz 0.3A
Output - 14VDC 500mA center tip positive

The bitterness of poor quality far outlasts the sweetness of cheap price...
