I was trying to update my software to version 3 and when I put my SD card in it says not enough space on card. This is not correct as nothing is on the card and yes it is formatted. It also is a 4GB card and the update is tiny. I also tried to use other cards. What is going on,any ideas and is there another way to update software? Getting frustrated, please help, thanks.

Dont think it reads anything over 2 Gigs also it uses a different file system and must be formatted by the transmitter.
Futaba has complete instructions on how to do it.

LIke I said it was formatted to the transmitter and was ok on the TX screen. I also tried it with a 256K card as well as the 2GB card and both times I tried it I got the same message not enough space? Whats wrong?

so are you trying to copy the updated s/w to the card directly?

If so, you can't because the file system is not compatible.

you have to run the update utility program to copy the binaries to the card.

From the update instructions: insert the card in your PC's card reader and then execute T12FGUPDATE.EXE which is in the .zip archive that downloads from the futaba site.

It will copy the software updates onto the card. You can then insert it into the tx and run the update on the tx.

let me know if this procedure doesn't resolve the problem.

Number too I am getting an error message from Futaba when I try to execute the file,it says,"Futaba File System Utility" The error occured at the time of the reading in of the configuration file. Confirm or redo download again it failed to copy" Not sure what all this means but I tried three time to download it again and same messages,I dont think its on my end? Just so you know I downloaded it to my desktop first.

I had some similar hassle updating my 8FG. Here's what worked for me:

Use a 2 GB or smaller card. Using Windows, format it to FAT- full format, not quick.

Then format/initialize it with the TX.

Now follow the Futaba instructions to load the update on the card with your PC, then load it on the TX.

Good luck!

Sure thing.

- Put the SD card in your PC

- Open windows explorer by right click on the Windows logo at the lower left of the screen then left click on "Open Windows Explorer"

- Find the drive for the SD card under 'Computer' Usually it will say 'Removable Disk' then a drive letter

- Right click on the drive letter

- Left click 'Format'

- Select 'FAT' from the file system drop down menu, leave the other selections as they are.

- Unclick 'Quick Format' if it is checked

Click the Start button

When the format is finished, put the SD card in your TX, then follow the Futaba instructions to format/initialize it.

Then follow the Futaba instructions to load the data on the SD card using the Futaba utility on your PC.

Then when you put the card into the TX, it should ask if you want to load the new software ( not sure exactly how this works on the 12FG- just follow the Futaba instructions step by step.)

Good Luck!

Carlos,
While it is always a good idea to back up your model programs to an SD card, I can assure you that the firmware update process does NOT erase existing model programming.
