I've had the distinct pleasure of shooting the Wilson Combat Spec-Ops 9 in competition and if you have the cash, it's hard to beat. It's not a "traditional" 1911 as it has a polymer frame and a double stack 16 round magazine but the trigger is typical 1911...smooth, short reset and light. And it has typical 1911 ergonomics so it's hard to go wrong.

On the negative side, the little sucker costs over 2 grand list and I haven't seen one go for less. Since I can get 2 of my CZ Shadows for that price it's not in MY safe but it's good to have generous (and trusting) friends

If it were me I'd contact STI or SV and have one made. They are top level in IPSC competitions.

Bullseye shooters may recommend something different, not sure.

Couple of years back I decided to try something different for Bullseye shooting, picked up the Springfield 1911 in 38super and converted by using the Cart barrel/bushing combo and a trigger job.
I was always happy with the Springfield out of the box, you can spend $600 on a milspec gun, fitted with a good qualyty barrel and a nice trigger job and the gun will shoot as good as every high dollar 1911 out there for under a grand.

I use one of these in 45 cal for bullseye
has a fully adjustable trigger smooth as butter
hits where it is pointed
it is a large gun though being that it is a double stack
little pricey but I average a minimum of about 300 rounds a week thru it
for the last 3 years with no problems

Thanks for the opinions, ill check out those guns. Are you legally allowed to own a suppressor? Here in canada youd get your pee pee smacked by the cops.

Yes, with a tax stamp($200), and it is only applicable to the weapon you apply for the stamp for.

STI but hey can I ask why not go for a .45?

Love my Sig Tacops 1911, fit and finish great and shoots like a laser!

IMO 9mm suck. Why not just get a 45 that does the job right the first time?

There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

Well for a 1911 model I 100% agree go with what will count

I do have a few 9mm handguns and the attraction to time shooting and costs is the attraction on those I suppose. I do love the punch and hole a 45 makes though!

Kinda like owning a 450 or a 700 size, what really makes the cowbell ring!

Springfield EMP in 9mm is a sweet, sweet carry pistol.
I shoot a 5" Kimber CDP-II in .45, but would strongly consider an EMP for a 1911 framed 9mm.

OICU812 you know that the rounds for a 45 here in canada are a little on the expensive side of things. going to the range with a 45 is like going to the field and crashing on purpose, at least thats the way it feels to your wallet. i dont have time to reload so thats why i like 9mm. as for stopping power, i do have a 18.5 inch 12ga under my bed and a few slugs in my night stand so i am not worried about home defense

TZ,

*1 on the Shadow. As much as I like the 1911 platform, when I got my Shadow my scores took a big jump. I actually like it more than the SpecOps 9 from Wilson.
