My logo 400 comes this week. Im finding out that it has a non driven tail. How hard is it to do autorotations compared to a driven tail? I have done many autos with many other birds, just not a logo 400.

Any thoughts, comments, advice?
THANK YOU!!
Michael

It's actually allot of fun. The older Raptor 30's did not have driven tails.

It will auto basically the same except at the end of the auto you will have no tail authority. When you add collective to flare the heli will rotate a little bit.

Thanks,
Chris

Helis with non driven tails auto fine, it's just going to weathervane into the wind. It'll actually float more than an equivalent driven tail since there is less drag. If you can auto a regular driven tail heli, you'll have no problems with this.

Yep, depending on how hard you would hit the collective at the bottom,
my Logo 10 would swing up to 180*, but it was sweet at autos, don't think I ever hardly damaged it doing them, just be ready for a little
swing at the end, otherwise comes down as nice and slow or fast as you
want it. Not sure how the smaller-bladed 400 does w. autos, but should
not be too different, being lighter.

You asked for advise (-: Don't let the non-driven tail thing bother you at all.

If the rotation at the bottom flare is uncomfortable at first, then auto from the right (going right to left). As you flare at the bottom, the tail will swing about 90 degrees with the head's rotation (to the right), to a tail-in orientation for the set-down (most guys comfort zone).

The heli stays straight all the way down, and as pointed out, just rotates some at the very bottom of the flare.

Thanks for the responses.. Now I get an "idea" of what to look for at the end of an auto

Thanks Dave, you have given me awesome advice and guidance.. You and Kyle are very good ambassadors for Mikado!!! This will be my first Logo. After "hearing" (oxymoronic statement since Im deaf) about Logos for a long time and then seeing Kyle fly it at the Phoenix Funfly, Ive been antsy to get on the Mikado Bandwagon

"...seeing Kyle fly it at the Phoenix Funfly, Ive been antsy to get on the Mikado Bandwagon "

You've been very patient waiting to get on the "Mikado Bandwagon" It's been a year or two since we were at Phoenix.

As for the Logo 400, the only "upgrade" Kyle's ever done to his, is adding the carbon tail box. The carbon version doesn't make it fly any better, it's just easier to check the belt tension, and then of course, it "looks cool"

Enjoy the model!
