when my main tank runs out of fuel and its running on the header tank the engine (os50) leans out drastically. i replaced all the feul lines including the ones in the tanks also made clamps by cutting little piece of line and fitting it over the existing line so it sort of doubles up where it connects on the fittings. anyone ever experience this? help please?

Once the fuel is out of the main tank to header tank line you maybe loosing air pressure. Try the little clamps on that fuel line.

Check your pressure line. If that is good, you may be running a bit lean overall.

i clamped all the lines between the main, header and carb. i put rtv around the nipple on the main to the header last night to see if that does the trick. im definitely loosing pressure cause the engine sounds normal when i switch the exhaust pressure line over to the header.

It sounds like the line from the main tank to the header tank has a tiny pin hole or cut.
It could be the line inside the tank (with the clunk), but it sounds like it is the external line connecting the main to the header.

Change those to fresh fuel lines.

I would guess that while the main tank still has fuel, the muffler pressure is forcing fuel out the pin hole, but still providing enough pressure for the needle setting.

When the main gets empty, there is no more fuel in that section of the fuel system, and the pressure is leaking out the pin hole. The pressure drop causes the lean condition

Air leaks out the pin hole faster than fuel.

When you fix the leak, you will have to re-tune the needle because now you have higher pressure in the system.

youll start to run lean as the header runs out of fuel. change out your fuel lines and clunk in the tank to be safe. also make sure your not leaking air at the muffler.
