Check out Radd's school of flight vids. They helped me on my first cp heli. Just take it slow, VERY Slow when starting. and rember to have fun. Thats what its all about!
Also keep an eye out in the classifieds for parts. Even post an add in the WTB (wanted to buy) adds for parts and even a used airframe.

Welcome to RR its a great place.

Just got the Venture 30RTF. New blades ordered and should be in tomorrow. The ones on it are a bit iffy. LOL. Test ran it yesterday, engine runs good no issues there. Gyro sensitivity needed to be dialed down. Still need to adjust and program fine tune it. But it did fly for a minute.

Welcome to RR.

Beam parts are hard to find. But, they are alive and well, and current in other parts of the world. I just found out that they have a new FBL head for E4 as well. My son and I (well my son mostly) still fly them.

Got my new blades and a spare feathering shaft in the mail today. Blades are mounted and were a bolt on deal. Ballance and grips already glued. For $15 I'm not complaining at all. Now I just need to get out to the feild and get it in the air.

This may be an overload of information, but Colin has published a great deal on theory of helicopters. I found it very helpful and most of all, interesting.

This starts at chapter 9 but you can go back to chapter 1 from this point.

I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?

So far to date, I have 4 flights on the Venture 30. The last one ending in a tip over on landing. It got dark a bit faster than I anticipated and that as well as the smoke cloud caused me to lose orientation and force a landing too far away to tell that there was a tilt to the heli and it had the audacity to tip over on me. LOL! Need a new head block and a set of blades. I already had all the parts to fix the tail and the flybar and the links as well as a new feathering shaft. Thankfully the head is only $8
Just need to get it ordered and the next time I get through Houston Tx Ill go pick it up. Now on to getting the BEAM E4 done. I also had a sponsered Outrage pilot say that I am doing extreemly well in hovering an entire tank without mishap rite up till the light went away. I was going to land but couldnt see to get it back to the pad, LOL! Keep in mind I have only 4 flights in real life. I dont count the time on RF as real flying as it does only a decent job of emulating real life, lol.

Imthinking of getting a 50 size but want to get something that 90% of LHS will carry parts for. Since I drive a truck for a living and live in the truck I have a hard time ordering parts and want to be able to just go to whatever hobby shop I'm close to and get what I need. What is the top 50 size helis most often carried by LHS?

As already mentioned Align 600N or the Raptor X50 is another heli that performs very well. A member at our club loves his X50 and parts are easy to find. But you still can't go wrong with Align.

Raptors are fine but with your requirements of being able to get parts while on the road, I doubt you'll find Thunder Tiger parts nearly as often as Align.

Got a freind that is getting out of the hobby so I bought him out. In the hoard is a nearly new Eflight MCPX and a DX6i several extra batteries and a few spares. I am going to use this heli to learn on as parts are cheap and readily availible. I have seen them crashed pretty hard and have no damage. I have flown one and they seem plenty capible in the hands of a better pilot than I This will be a good heli for me to use when I am on the road as it can be flown in a very small space.
