Most likely in the future I will own a Whiplash Gasser but I will also keep my 1005 and Spectra too.

Setup is everything, All my heli's can fly far better than I can pilot them

You wanna do mine?

Friends don't encourage friends to fly helis! It can cause part shortages.

What's going to be the engine of choice for the whiplash.
I was looking at either a modified 27cc or 29cc.

Sorry, I do custom paint, But this one was done through Canomod, you simply send them a design or description of what you want and they will do it for you. this one cost me $104 shipped.. this is actually a photo for approval befor clear coat, I have another one being done and will show that photo soon.....

Anyone know if the Whiplash Gasser will have a beefy enough clutch to handle the top end mod motors like the 27.2 and 30.5?

I thought I remember seeing the Gasser Min Air video and it showed a real beefy clutch system that was different that the type used in the Spectra. The clutch bell was huge. Check out the video.

The only comparison between the new Miniature Aircraft and the old Miniature Aircraft is the name.
But is it still using the same plastic grips as the 1005?

since I've only flown one of these once, I'll be trying 240, 270 and 290 size motors to see which one it likes better.

at least the initial flights will be with the 270 though

from some of the dyno data that Alan has shared with me (and he's run both his own and competitors motors), one can't automatically assume that bigger is better because as I've said over and over, its a power SYSTEM not just a motor. If you can't get the power where you want it (for whatever reason) to drive and maintain a certain head speed, it doesn't matter how big it is.

I understand that. I am actually thinking of a mod 260 that is hitting its peak at about 14800 rpm. We have been testing them in a few Radikals and it is a really smooth motor. I always like to go the complete opposite direction of my flying buddies so I am going the Whiplash instead of Radikal Route,(plus I am a little partial to Made in the USA!). One last question, does the Whiplash require a longer header to run the Century V2 pipe like some helis or will it bolt right in stock?

What are the available gear ratios? That is just as important as the motor almost.
