I have mcpx bls, trex 250, 450, 500, 600, 700. The tiny ones are fun and fast. If you get good on them its like flying in slow motion on the bigger ones. After flying the mcpx and 250 my 450 feels so stable and precise. Never thought Id say that but they have come a long way also.

My mcpx bl is much easier to learn on but is as expensive as the 250 to maintain. I seem to have a lot more crashes on the mcpx due to mech failures. At 6k head speed parts break. Parts wear out quicker on the mcpx also. Servos and motors mostly.

I thought I was done with the 250s a while back but after having fun flying in the front yard with the mcpx I bought another. I crashed it 3 times. In the three crashes it cost 5.00 for the two feathering shafts that seared. Small crack on canopy also.

If you don't have the money to buy a bunch of helis and can only afford one I would just get a 450 pro or 500. If you already have a bigger one get the 250 and have fun. I have a tiny tail wag and don't care. I could spend the next month trying to fix it or just fly it. I put 24 flights on it this weekend. I may do the HeimJoint tail bearings upgrade. I would like to try flb and will when I upgrade one of my flbs and have an extra beastx to mess with.

Hope this helps.

To minimize damage on these tiny helis get good at hitting throttle hold and give full collective opposite of the ground before impact. And fly over grass!

Avoid it.

I have had 2. They are finicky, you will always be wrenching on the darn small thing. Always seems like bearings are going bad, links are breaking or screws are coming out.

If you have your heart set on a small heli, then get the Mcpx.

If you still have your heart set on a 250, then at the minimum go FBL. That will cut down on the parts that can wear out in the head.

Screw It, I'm gonna fly

250's are pretty good heli's but require a pretty good pilot and a pretty good mechanic.

OK I have the mcpx and it is a challenge to fly it, but once you get in to it it's fun.
Now for the bad news. I think that I am going to get the gaui 200 instead. I talked to a couple of guys at the field last weekend and they owned both the 250 and the 200. They both said that the gaui wins hands down.
The gaui was much more stable than the rex 250.
