Yeager Great news? You've got to be kidding right?

As many of us have experienced with this CGY750 Futaba product, the quality assurance from Futaba has been a disgrace to say the least.
Further, no proper distribution of replacement parts.
Why in the world would anybody consider supporting a substandard quality product line as the CGY701 and CGY750 have proven to be - by moving onto the next one in line.
You are free to have your opinion and so do I and everyone else. So yes, it is great news as far as I am concerned and YOU don't need to agree. It is called product evolution and progress. Yes, there has been problems with 701/750 screens, not the GYRO as a whole? Do you think Futaba is alone with problems and all other manufacturers are immune of same? No need to answer, we all know the answer. It happens in every industry in case you have not noticed. I have received great service from FutabaUSA replacing ALL, yes ALL failed screens at a very low reasonable cost. Perhaps you need to check your attitude before you hit the keyboard as to how you approach a problem or situation? Bashing the manufacturer is not going to resolve any of your problems. Futaba has been around twice as long than you been on this earth. Look at JR... where are they now? Yes, out of business. Collectively we need to work together with manufactures to support this hobby, otherwise there is going to be less of them around. You already made your point in earlier posts. You don't like Futaba, then move on and buy something else. Last time I checked, you have freedom of choice to buy whatever you want. So stop complaining and move on... life is too short!
The Futaba CGY750 is pretty useless without a functioning (Oled)Screen - so not sure why you focus on the gyro alone. But, yes, your right there have been issues with BOTH the Futaba CGY701 AND the Futaba CGY750 systems. I've failed to find support, as have MANY others, from Futaba (in my case in Europe). I see no relevance to the subject, whether Futaba is a legacy company or not - I'm looking at the factual lack of support in replacing the failed Oled screens. I've got 3 useless units and the fact that you've been lucky to get support from the US side - is good for you, but unfortunately that is of little help on the other side of the pond, yeah?

The manufactures have to work on their “support part” of the equation (and quality assurance) - it's not a consumer responsibility - so no, you got that wrong.

You seem like someone who would benefit from a bit more objectivity.

I have been a Futaba guy since switching from Kraft somewhere in the '80s. I've got Futaba radios upstairs going back to AM gold box TXs. I can think of 3, 701s and 5 or 6 750s around here currently installed. I have 2 760s installed and 1 new still in the box looking for a home. It goes without saying I like Futaba.

But I'm worried. $350 is a lot of money for most modelers and the CGY755 is a seemingly simple (read featureless) 3 axis gyro/governor. Futaba's transmitters still reflect pricing going back to a time when the hobby was in full swing and often radio sets were out of stock. $3,000 is going to be a tough sell when Spektrum's newest and most feature filled radio is $1,300. Even that seems pricey when you start looking at radios such as the FrSky. Their upper-end offerings top out under $600. https://www.amainhobbies.com/frsky-...3010040/p783166

As it applies to this thread, it would really help if we could get in front of the 701/750 screen issues. I would really help if modelers could readily find new, Gen 2 (less failure prone), screens for their 701/750 gyros. If would make folks feel better about reaching for their wallet if they could see a box of 400 CGY750 screens ready to be shipped to stranded modelers.

I'm really trying not to be the guy that throws rocks at the parade as it goes by and I hear my mothers words, "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all." Futaba has a new gyro and that is cause for excitement. And I'm not lobbying for Futaba to be the cheapest hobby products available. For me, quality always trumps price - and Futaba has historically meant quality. But this entire tread is dedicated to a manufacturing defect, discontinuation of a (formerly) loved product, and reluctant factory support for a seemingly orphaned decade's worth of gyros.

I'll try and focus on the positives of the new 755 gyro in this thread:

Futaba better opt their game. You snooze you loose. 999.- euro is inclusive of 25% tax (Value Added Tax). This take the Graupner to something like 700.-USD after you’ve deducted the tax and considered the exchange rate (today).

If you really want to discuss ojectivity then look no further than the lack of your objectivity. You are so fixated on the 701/750 OLED issue to such extreme that you are completely blind to even consider a new gyro product from Futaba. If you have a service problem contact your local Futaba agent for your area: RIPMAX. Or move on to a different brand so you can perhaps have a less stressful life.

Futaba give us a bad product and no service, so we learn about it!

Now, they offer a gyro without screen but no problem! You can order the gadget apart.

" Dear customer:
We accept your piece of junk, gy701 or gy750 as a full paid for a brand new gy755 and the screen gadget.
Sorry for the inconvenience"

" Dear futaba:
Thank you for your kindly proposal but No way!... Give me my money back to buy things that really works"

At least you're able to understand that there is a problem with the Futaba CGY701/CGY750 series - so that's good.

Here is the reply from you suggested contact, RIPMAX (Futabas representative), 03DEC2019:

"I regret that this part is currently out of stock. We have asked Futaba in Japan to provide more spares but it looks like the display may no longer be available."

Regrettably there has NOT been any solution or fix as you may call it - to the faulty Futaba CGY701/CGY750 displays as we speak.

It's hard to believe that you actually suggest moving onto another more or less similar product from Futaba - after having 650 usd worth of USELESS gyros from them. You really don't get it do you? Futaba has a broken product and worse than that, Futaba is failing to rectify this. It's their problem not mine - I can't fix that - Futaba can. It's not my responsibility - it's Futabas.

This issue is NOT going to go away - like you may want it to - until Futaba comes up with an acceptable solution. There's enough of us to keep the word going UFN.

Anything solution to the Futaba PROBLEM, that replaces the 650usd worth of broken CGY701/CGY750s that I have, is welcomed.

And, no, the solution is not for ME to go buy another Futaba product out of the same faulty line as the CGY701/CGY750 series. Comprende.

That is a very old reply - I have had screens supplied to me since then and I have supplied them to many people around the world.
The next shipment is due in the UK around 26th September 2020.

Also remember, these are not made by Futaba, but an outside manufacturer that is having supply problems.

JLFXXX,

Buenos dias amigo.

1. IF Futaba had made a proper quality assurance of the CGY701/CGY750 Oled display, you and I and the rest of the dissatisfied customers of these gyro systems would not be having this conversation.
2. IF Futaba would have assured a functional and proper support system to replace the failed CGY701/CGY750 Oleds, we wouldn't be having this conversation.
3. IT is irrelevant, as such, who produces the actual displays. The OEM is Futaba and the product is their responsibility, not TDK. This is an internal matter between the supplier and Futaba.
4. I have put in more effort than should be needed to retain functional CGY701/CGY750 units. No need to stay restless about that bud.
5. Plenty of other customers and posters with useless CGY701/CGY750 gyros around - just do a quick search - it's not hard.

Yep, what is there not to be impressed about with Futaba and their CGY product??

Have fun with the gyro, while it works, and then when it fails a few years later - go buy another 350usd/unit or 3 to have operational helicopters.

Yeager Yep, what is there not to be impressed about with Futaba and their CGY product??
Should I be impressed that I have 3 new in box gyros that are worthless with no customer service? I was a die hard Futaba user literally from ages 9 to 42. Between them ceasing support to the 12z and 14mz well before they should have, and now this CGY situation... I'm gone. At least as a high level user.
