Kyle is one of my favorite pilots.

I once stated that his flying is so clean even a blind man could see it -- and that still rings true, seems he just keeps getting better and better.

Yeah that Exxtreme is hauling A$$.

I am a fan of Mikado, I have 4 birds ergo I have 4 blue lines, but what are we, the fans, left to think?

Too much trouble to design/build 700 class, too much money to re-tool, not enough cost/benefit to be bothered with...well OK.

Didn't seem to be with the Exxtreme, no one heard of it until a short time before it's debut.

Looking towards the future of not only electric but a totally new class. Two part answer:

They did create a monster of a new class of RC heli, totally blown away, looks like a real performer, and they did so with the highest of standards synonymous with the mikado moniker.

as far as electric though...Flight Time has always been the issue, went from (what I understand) nothing usable to a glimmer of hope by 2005 through 2009, then some real hope in 09:

seemed like every month C rating increased while cost decreased, and charging...had you told me in 08 that I could charge 6-5000 Mah 6s packs from 20% to fully charged in 26 min. I would have told you to put the local frie dept on speed dial

but no MAH improvement, none seemingly on the horizon.

I wouldn't want to fly for 2.5 minutes, cause if Kyle is getting 3, the collective master he is, I certainly will get less once my paws start throwing that level of mass around.

So Bravo to Mikado, because they really did build something new, something that really didn't exist.

unfortunately I think it won't exist for the masses for quite some time, as the technology for decent FT has yet to be achieved, and we all know it's at least 2 years after, that it will become affordable.

Looking forward, I'd say I'll be able to own my first 800 in 2015

untill then I guess I'll have to fly synergy

I too being somewhat loyal to Mikado was side tracked when we went from a announced 700 heli to the exxtreme. No doubt the exxtreme is a quality machine worthy of the Mikado name but not what we were expecting. I went from anticipating getting a Mikado 700 as soon as it was released to maybe some day I will get the exxtreme.

Right now I am awaiting the shipping of the MA whiplash and would also like to add a Goblin 700 to the fleet as well. From design standpoints I like the whiplash having the one way on the motor shaft assembly as well as the simple design. I also like the Goblin 700 due to the modular design and different looks.

Once the dust settles on ESC and Motor combinations for the exxtreme I will probably take the plunge.

When I started this topic I felt Mikado could have released a 700 long before the others caught up. Loyal customers plus non loyal would have made sense.

All they needed to do as many have now stated would have been put a logo 600se kit together with the carbon frames, metal grips and tails. That's it, where's the big investment and a kit that wasn't rivaled in the main stream.

To buy a 600SE, then frame set, then say RJX head then quick tails to get one doesn't make sense.

So lets be honest they could have achieved both and still can. Maybe they wouldn't want to Market it as a 700 just a 690SE.

Given the choice now of a 600SE sadly my money would go elsewhere.

The whole design is not good for 690-710MM blades unless you fly soft.

Main shaft bearings, one way bearing is unsupported, main shaft flexes from length, tail grips, plastic main grips.

Its good to do what its designed for, just not good for high RPM or hard flying in SE form.
