I am planning on flying down on the 8th. I know to bring batteries as carry on but what is the easiest way to get my helis down there? I intend to bring my 600EFL Pro and my 550.
I thought I might be able to pull the LG and booms and fit them in my checked bag but I haven't tried it yet.

The lipos are an issue no matter what. I have checked them in and have had issues, I have carried them on and have had issues, I have also checked them in without issue and carried them on without issue. Unfortunately TSA doesn't know their own rules and it will depend on who inspects your luggage and/or on the person who checks you going through security if you decide to carry them as carry ons. Not sure about Puerto Rico, but it should be the same as the US as it is part of it. Bobby and I couldn't bring lipos as carry on or as checked luggage on our last trip to Argentina, so the rules change also not only in the US, but from country to country.

Bottom line is, you'll take your chances to be able to or not be able to bring them with you. Easiest thing is to ship them to the hotel ahead of time.

I flew in from San Juan Puerto Rico a few months ago, I took the battery's in my carry on. No issues. They just ask what are they.

It might be worthy
To print out the TSA rules on the batteries and bring a copy of that with you. A friend of mine had his trex 450 batteries confiscated when he flew back from Jamaica to England. He told me about it as he left a few days before me and I went ahead and printed the rules and took them with me just in case but had no issues leaving Jamaica with them though they did open the bags and look at them. Funny thing is when I left the US with them in the bag, they never opened the bag or looked at them, just went through like they were not there. In fact, going back to the US from Jamaica was always more of a holdup/question and check (one several occasions) where from the US to Jamaica it was a breeze if they looked it was brief and you're on your way.

Bert is right it depends on who is looking at the monitor. Take a printout of the rules with you in case so you can say "they are allowed and here are the regulations on them".

One thing you should check and confirm is that there is a limit as to how much or how big the batteries are. A half dozen trex 450 batteries were within the limits for sure as I took them with me on 3 seperate occasions to Jamaica but I do vaguely remember some sort of size limit and several 700 packs might breach that.

Guys, Align and Assurance R/C have stepped up and donated a T-Rex 450 sport that will be given to a lucky winner out of the pre-registered pilots. Get your pre-registrations in ASAP to qualify for this

Shucks
Wow I am sooooo bummed. This is the first year I won't be able to go. Every year in the past, this was held the same weekend as the PRI (Performance Racing Industry) trade show, so because I am at the trade show for work and am "working" I get to also attend this.

I didn't really pay attention until I was looking at my itinary and realized the show is a weekend earlier (or funfly a weekend later).

Doubt work will pay for me to stay down there an extra week haha so I guess I better unpack my heli (i ship it down with the stuff for the convention).

Hope you guys have a great time and looking forward to next year

There are still a few RV spots available, pre-register and secure a spot.

I already have a couple of pilots showing up Wednesday and a number of pilots arriving on Thursday.

Can't, means "Don't want to"

Been practicing those autos, you beat the pants off everybody last year.

I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?

You know...
I haven't been practicing since IRCHA, I was so burned out practicing I sort of dropped it after that.

I better start practicing again, I'm rusty by now for sure...!
