Guys, I'm planning on running a Jive 80hv and use a seperate 2 cell lipo pack for my HV servos. I can't find any specs in the manual other than pulling the red receiver wire. Is the Jive capable of running with external power of 8.4v when not using it's BEC???

If you pull the red wire then it will work, since no current will flow to the esc. Just make sure you prevent the wire from shorting out.

Make a suggestion vs pulling the red wire, use an extesion and pull that wire so you dont ruin the one attached to the esc.

Ok, thanks. Just plugged it all in and seems to work.

Another question:
I programmed for heli setting #4, after doing so, I re-inserted the jumper. I assume the jumper is supposed to be in? No info in the manual...
How many of you have set setting #9 for lipo cutoff?

Can't believe how long it takes to cycle through the programs! It seems like minutes between each stage!!!

I leave the jumper cable in all the time on my HV80. Best place for it - Always there if ever you should need it.

On setting number 9, I have never set lipo cut-off. With packs this size, that cost this much, I rely on timed flights.

On the cycling time, it's worth the wait..

the wire on the jive is not soldered, it plugs in, so there is no worry about ruining the wire to the esc. I just pull the pin out of the plug and heatshrink it back on the cable. That way you can always just cut the heatshrink and insert the pin again.

I noticed when you use a 6s lipo to program it takes a LOOOONNNG time to go through the menu. Use 12s and it will be quick.

Just an update, according to the Kontronik guys from IRCHA the programming should not take long! If it does, something is wrong.

You have to pull the jumper within 10 seconds of connecting the battery or else it will not program correctly.

When done programming you should hear a confirmation tone at the end of the setting selected.

I learned that mine was probably in airplane mode as after I did a pinion change the speed controller shut off on a full power climb!

I have been told by a helpful pilot using Kontronik to re-program everytime you make a change such as trying new pinions...

I did mention to Kontronik they should write a better manual

Unit works great now
