I did balance my props and the motors seem tight. I'll have to check the shafts. I did notice that the way we have the camera mounted that there is some flex on that tab that could cause vibration.

Finally got my props today and set it all up. It was breezy, and can see how ill want to retune it with no wind, but it flys great so far. Reminiscent of the mystery of trying to figure out ccpm and gyro setup a few years back.
I flew it with no marking for front/back and that was a challenge, so I promptly secured an easter egg; Will upgrade later.
Flying weight 1561g with gopro, 25 amps on 10x4.5 props. Everything is cold when it comes down. More fine tune setup and fpv to test tomorrow.
I dig it.

I think you will find that it will fly better with APC slow fly props ... The Black props have a tendency to break in flight! ..

Good call.

Swapped to 10x4.7sf props and man what a difference it made in stability, and noise. I was having issues getting it to feel stable, and now im pretty sure it was the props.

Time to order some 11s and 3 blades to test.

The VC 450 frame works best with 10" props .. if your going to use 11" then I would go with a larger frame .. I am now flying a Aerial Tech frame (A bit larger than the VC550) with the DJI wookong system ... (and I thought the Fy91Q was Good!) This is simply Amazing! No more pitch ups and GPS is solid! ....

I was going to ask you about the dji. I can get one today for 1k with a 240$ gift card, and im about to pull the trigger. Looks super, super stable from the videos. Does it eliminate trimming?

Ok, ill leave the 450 at 10. I have 12x4.5s I was going to put on, but its flying so good I think Ill enjoy it for a day or two before messing with it. I do have a 550 im building so ill do some testing with larger props on that. I read somewhere the 3 blade are the most stable, so I want to test some of those.

Save yourself some time with the 3 blade .. I tried it .. I like the 10" props on my "550" size frame .. Handles the weight and flight stability is great ...

He recommends raising the GPS receiver about 2 inches above the platform to get it away from the other electronics. This will help establish GPS Lock faster and will improve position
I now have an extra center plate for my hoover thing frame set, so I will use it to raise the GPS unit above the rest of the electronics.

I think about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, then wonder what I'm here after ?

The FY91Q's GPS receiver needs to be about 6" higher .. It still takes 1.5 minutes cold and 1 minute hot start or longer ... There is issues with the GPS freq (refresh rate) that need to be addressed in the firmware .. but it does work to a degree.

My gps shows it has signal in about 10 seconds, if not less. When I bought it, they said it was a new, different gps sensor(with a backup battery inside?). It looks diff than the one on the pics on their site a bit. I have no clue as to any of their revisions/changes.

I am having problems getting it hooked up to a computer. I read that if im going to upgrade the firmware to unplug everything from it. Do i have to do that to get the version? I can get the port open, but then it just shows the fye gui with all zeros. I push the show version and nothing happens. What am I missing?

I had the same issues with that ... I never could upgrade the firmware, I tried to get it to work but never got past were you are at .. As for the GPS I think yours will show the LED on the GPS itself but look at the FY91Q module .. does the RED led Blink? Thats were mine took awhile ... I had one of the internal gyro's go out, sent it in to be repaired, They have had it now for 3 weeks! They keep telling me it's being tested! .. Unit was only a about a month old before I sent it in! ... Not real happy with thier service. I must say that I am REAL Happy with the DJI system! and to think I thought this system was good!

yes but, I could NOT change anything! when I would input a change it would go back to default ... The whole thing was strange! .. it flew good if you just left all that alone and just played with gain settings in the radio ..

Software update
I had the same problem. I followed the instructions to the letter (install driver first etc etc). Have the unit on its own, press connect then plug it in...... I would get some Chinese symbols and then the symbols would disappear. When you press version number.....nothing.

Same would happen with the upgrade software.

In the end I tried a different USB port ( win7). I got the "found new hardware" bit again and this time it started working. It said connect success or something. When I pressed the version, I got version 1.10 installed so I didnt bother with the upgrade software.

Dr Tim, how did you know one of the internal sensors was broken?
