Looks like a lot of fun. Going in the new E7 when it's out. Just getting everything in line for a new heli, I can't wait.

Thanks,
Chris

I was hoping they would make a motor for the 700 that was efficient enough to preform AND increase FT...guess not

That video looks like a million other 3D flights by an expert 3D pilot. What's so special about it? I'm sure it's a great motor, many are. It's also a cool looking chunk of metal, too.

Let's see some DATA. I said it before, I'll say it again...videos of a pro pilot flying anything is USELESS to discriminating consumers. Maybe that's the problem these days

SELL me the motor, don't show me something you GAVE to someone else. Give me some reason to yank a pair of $230 Scorpions from my Caliber E12s besides some funfly video.

I Have To Agree....
ErichF, I have to agree with you that the video would not make me rush out and buy this motor, and also that these pro pilots can make a can of "beans" look good....
BUT, I will say this.... he was spanking the HE** out of that motor and it hung in there, all the way through that thrashing.....
So, it would make me consider the motor, and definetly take a hard looks at the specs for it.... and I am only a scale flier, but can appreciate pure power and that did show up in the video....
So, if thenewguy was impressed enough to add one to his new 700 more power to him..... it certainly looks up to the deed to me!!!!

What heli was that? Was that the new Synergy E9? It looks like a Trex 700 E to me.

Special thanks to Matt Botos (Owner and Designer, Synergy R/C) for allowing team pilot Mitch Pricer to put the KDE Direct TREX 700E helicopter through the absolute smackdown, high-power Extreme Flight Test. Goal of flight was to push the new KDE Direct 700XF-495 Brushless Motor to the limit

Erich,
I swear that I just don't understand comments like this. Why is the video useless just because the pilot is good at what he is doing?

As far as I know Mitch doesn't have any magical powers that will let a widget perform better for him than someone else.

The motor still has to spin the blades regardless of who is moving the sticks. What am I missing here?

I wouldn't say a video of a pro pilot is useless, I'd say that ANY video is useless at this point. You can't buy a bad heli anymore. They all fly fine, and since most everything is FBL now, the heli itself has very little influence on the quality of a flight. So buy things based on how you like the design and the weight. Videos tell you nothing, beyond whether the guy flying can fly well or not.

I wouldn't say that video is useless but it is not a fair representation of what us common folks would be able to do with said motor. Someone who has mastered collective management can make ANY motor look like it performs better than it would in the hands of someone still learning collective management. That being said the motor clearly has power, no denying that here. Durability is something a video can't show but I am curious to how long that motor will last. I would rather a motor last 2-3 years longer than push a couple hundred more watts doing tic-tocs. But thats just me.

I will only slightly disagree with Nick in that you can still buy a bad heli but it is harder to do these days!

Flybarless heads certainly helped to level the playing field as far flying characteristics go.

I think that motors are a different story. You still have to turn the head and you still have to put pitch to the blades.
Pitch management is important and a pilot with good pitch management skills can make an under powered helicopter look better.
However, sooner or later you are going to have to put pitch to the blades and the power plant will either be able to keep up or it wont.
