Well, after a very "anal" build, I took her up for the first time today. I have to say, this is the most time I ever took to build a heli, and I was rewarded with a grin inducing first flight. I didn't do more that hover around a bit, but when those blades got up to speed and the engine hit it's sweet spot man she was smooth. I will start the flame war now with a bold statement. I don't understand the supposed vibrations that gassers are supposed to have. When set up properly and tuned properly, my gassers (I had a Predator) run smoother than any nitro I ever owned. They shake on the way up to speed but when you get it right... but I am preaching to the choir here, aren't I?
Now all I need to do is remember how to dial in the throttle curves right. I have a GV-1, but I like having curves to fall back on if things go wrong.

Wow, the ground was closer than I thought.

Glad to hear your first flight went good. Did you get the bearing problems worked out?
You got it in the air in no time. You must be retired or just have a lot of time. Good for you.
What did you end up with for a gyro? I have ben building mine looking around the shop to see what I have. It's not right but I got it because it was a good deal with the engine. It was not like I had been planing it.
Well it sounds good. I hope that my G-30 works good with all the extras I find in the shop.

It was a good deal, and the deal we got is worth the few issues that came up. Century sent me new bearings, and the whole machine is nice and smooth now. I am using a 611 gyro, only because it's what I had. I took all my radio gear off of my Evo to do this heli, because gas is so much cheaper than nitro. I'm not retired, but I do have free time.
I do like the new gyro that futaba has with the gov. built in, it would save some room, but that is for later. I am hoping to sell off my nitro stuff and fund that, or mabey try FBL. I just paid my AMA up too, it expired years ago but my number is the same. On Monday, I am going to rejoin the local club (they are very heli friendly and have a great field) and give her a proper shakedown.

Wow, the ground was closer than I thought.
