and again, love it. Guy minding his business walking down the street and using his rights is a giant doucher. You are using your free speech to say that, so what does that make you using your rights? Hmmm.
No, he is a giant douche because of the way he talked to the cop. The cop was polite, profesional and even tried to make small talk about both being in the MC. But the DOUCHE was purpously being a jerk trying to goad him into doing something because he was recording him.

Your oviously a cop hater, but no doubt your the first to pee your pants and call them when your in trouble and frightened.

Which is worse, ignorance or apathy? I don't know and I don't care!

Exactly. I didn't say he wasn't right in WHAT he said. It's HOW he was saying it. He was without a doubt correct in what he was saying. The officer even acknowledged that fact. Call me old fashioned, but my parents taught me the golden rule. Had the officer been being a douche, yup he was justified. But the officer seemed to be going out of his way to be polite. Watch the video again and tell me the guy was being even halfway dignified. SO I stand by my calling him a giant doucher.

I don't hate cops, I hate those that step on our rights under color of Law.

I have to confess at not having watched the video, my internet speed doesn't allow it. However,

I think YOU guys are missing the point. The cop had NO reason for stopping the individual, no RAS, no PC. It's simply a person walking down the street who just happens to be LAWFULLY carrying a holstered handgun. It's his right, just as it's his right to be free from unwarranted searches and seizures.

If YOU felt that a right of yours was being stepped on, under color of law, and you KNEW that the officer was wrong, I suspect that you might be a bit irate as well. Here's a picture for you, you're on your way to work, maybe running a little late and in a hurry. You're NOT speeding, but happened to get stopped anyway. The Officer runs your plates, license, checks wants and warrants, finding you clean on lien. Maybe it's been a slow day for him, he decides he wants to search your vehicle.

Now you have a choice. You can tell him that you do NOT consent to a search, remember you're already late for work, and for no reason that you can discern, the officer wants to empty out your vehicle on some fishing expedition!!

He's gonna call backup, probably with a K9 unit, hoping Mcgruff alerts on your vehicle giving him RAS, but maybe he just decides to do it anyway, he'll make it up as he goes...

Of course he finds nothing, you're a solid Citizen, not even a speeding ticket!! You're on your way to work to try to explain to your boss what happened.

A few weeks later...Uh oh....there he is AGAIN!!! Oh wait, different cop, but you STILL end up late for work...Are you upset yet?

Yes I know, fictional story. But Youtube is FULL of videos of cops abusing their power of arrest, LYING to cover themselves, lying to get you in trouble. If we as a society ALLOW this to continue, then when it IS your turn, who will cry for you?

Just as racism needs to be decried whenever and wherever it happens, abuses of our rights need to be fought against with ALL weapons at our disposal, Not guns per se, but with cameras and recording devices, showing how serious these abuses are.

BTW, I have MANY friends who are cops, local City Police, Sheriff's Deputies, and State Troopers. These guys are my friends because they have taken an Oath, an Oath to uphold and defend the Constitution of The United States and refuse to step on LAC rights.

Okay, Here is a scenario. So if you were a peace officer driving down the street and you saw a man with a holstered pistol walking by a school. You wouldn't at least be curious, perhaps even ask what is going on here? Remember, it is not infringing on his rights to carry to ask a question. You are asking a question. Now then, assume you DIDN'T ask what was going on. The man shoots 1, 2, 10 , 20 people. What is going to happen, in the public opinion, to you? Not to mention how are you going to feel knowing you saw it and could have prevented it?
Okay, I know what your going to say. This guy wasn't by a school..... So... What if there happened to be a school bus driving down that road?

That being said, I am ALL FOR peoples rights to carry. 100% no questions asked, it IS your right. It is NOT your right not to be asked a question. What rights did the officer step on by asking a few questions. He didn't tell him to get rid of the gun. He didn't arrest him. He didn't even detain him for any longer than to ask for a few questions. Even that was nonforceful and nonconfrontational.

Be responsible with your right to carry. If your questioned, just answer the questions and you will be on your merry way. There is no perfect answer for any of the scenarios listed above. I would err on the side of caution, ask a question. If all seems okay, thank the man for his time. Tell him to have a nice day and walk away.

I understand you didn't see the video. Try to look at it if you get a chance. You might get a new perspective.
Have a nice day.

Dude, You really should watch the video.

You really cant tell us we are missing the point when you didn't even watch the video in question.

The cop was extremely polite, even shooed away another cop that happened to show up, the whole thing took probably less then minute and the whole time the cop was extremely polite while the DOUCHE was uncoopertive, disrespectful and was filming him.

Which is worse, ignorance or apathy? I don't know and I don't care!

One point was missed by regarding the stop by the polite officer. He is an Oceanside, California Police Offficer. In California, open carry of an unloaded weapon is lawful. Open carry of a LOADED weapon is defined as a concealed weapon, and that's a whole different ballgame.

If a cop out here sees you open carry, he's going to stop and at least ask what's going on, and verify that it's either unloaded, or that if it is loaded, you're a CCW holder. So seeing an openly carried weapon IS probable cause.

maybe a stupid question, but: what good is carrying an un-loaded pistol??? Just don't get it. And then be a douche to the respectful cop. Sorry, he was hoping to get something on film. He did, himself being a douche'bag.
