Mini Protos Motor bearings
Hi all,

With about 20 flights in total, the motor of my used M Protos starts developing loud grinding noise. Readyheli won't replace it since the heli is used.

I would like to know what size bearing I need for replacement, and how many bearings do I need? Also where can I order after market bearing? Would like to avoid stock scorpion bearings.

Before laying down another $60, I would like to try new bearings first.

Much appreciated.

These Hyperion motors are said to have better quality bearings then the Scorpion.

Before I bought another Scorpion/MSH I would try the Hyperion.

A quick update. I received the new bearings from Boca today. Proceeded to remove the old bearings. Top bearing came out fine. Bottom bearing came totally apart after 2 taps with a small hammer & hex driver. So it was definitely the bad bottom bearing that caused the grinding noise. Problem was, the outer race of the bearing still stuck in the motor. There was no way I could remove it.

Long story short, tried using dremel to get it out. Didn't work out too well.

Have to get a new motor. The first thing I'll do with the new motor is to replace the 2 bearings.

Thanks for all the helps.

Thanks for the link. I missed your reply.

Yes, I'll definitely get the hyperion motor instead of the Scropion.

hyperion motors are better than the stock kit motors but you'll have to cut hyperion motors shaft or use the one from the stock kit motor, if you change the shafts just make sure you get the flat on the shaft totally square with the set screw in the end bell or if it's not the set screw will hit right or left of the flat and the set screw will not go in the end bell as far and will though the balance of the end bell off a little.     ▲

Thanks for the tip. I'll pay attention to the flat spot when changing the shaft.
