YS 91 and Hatori SB19
Greetings,

I'd like to mount the SB19 on my long stroke, YS 91. The muffler kit comes with two mounting screws, but there are no lock washers. I assume that loctite is useless and so how best to do up these two screws, through the muffler's manifold, to the engine?

Also, is it best to use high temperature silicone, rather than a gasket and if so, how best to do this install, is there any special technique?

thanks,

John

A very thin skim of rtv if any at all its all that you need. Put the screws in tight, go fly until motor is hot. Then land and retighten with it being hot. Should be all you need.RIP Roman

I used red locktite on those screws that go into the engine crankcase. When I had to take it apart after burning up the motor the locktite was there and working well.Wolves don't lose sleep over the opinions of sheep

Hi

We all have different ideas....

I would not use red loctite.

You are going to have a hard time removing the muffler while it is hot, to tighten the bolts.

The RTV is what i use. Put a VERY thin layer on the muffler header and install. I only nip the bolts tight. Wait 24 hour for the RTV to fully cure and then tighten the bolts and install the muffler.

This allows a very thin layer of RTV to cure and then get tightened. I have used this method for 10 years and only redo it when i need to take the muffler off. I never get leaks.

Regards
Paul
