Airtronics -10G and GY401
I have a problem with my Predator that has my club stumped, recently I sent My GY401 and S9254 servo in to Futaba to be checked out and found out the servo motor was toast but the gyro was ok .Ordered a new servo and reinstalled the items. No matter what gain setting I use
the heli lifts off and does a quick pirouette ,The only gain that seems to smooth it out is +2 in heading hold mode and I have the rate mode is set -55. If I go above +50 on the heading hold mode I have extreme hunting and pirouettes.Yes the direction of the nose is correct when tapped, when turned on the LED flickers then turns solid red,Flipping the gain select switch causes the LED to go out (normal)
Nearly everyone has a GY401 but no one in my club uses an Airtronics -10G so they have not been able to help.If someone uses this system could you yet me know your
setting for the gain ,exp and DR.or suggestions.

I am not all that familiar with the Airtronics radios (I fly Futaba) but I live in Delta and fly at the Ridge Flyers field (not all that far from you).

If you care to come down, I would be glad to help. If you do, please bring the manual for your Airtronics.

The SD-10G is very simple. If the guys in your club can't figure this radio out, they're not trying. For the most part it just uses pure aux channel gain settings for control of the gyro. First, did you assign a switch to the GYRO gain channel which defaults to Channel 5 in the RX? If you didn't you will not have control over the gyro gain channel no matter what the gyro gains are set to.

Next, once the gyro gain channel is assigned to a switch, in the Flight mode section, select the GYRO gain settings and remember you can have three gain settings in each flight mode assigned to a 3 position switch. The gyro gain channels will need to be set to a value in each flight mode.

Set the HH gain to +50% to start
Set the Rate mode gain to -50% to start

Make sure that you can see the gyro gain channel switch gain direction in the Servo monitor page and this will ensure that you have full control over the gyro gains.

If you don't want to use the gyro gain channel it is very simple to assign an Aux channel to a switch and remap the AUX channel of your choice to Port 5 in the RX and simply use high and low gain settings on a 3 position switch with center off. This will allow you to simplify the gyro gains irrespective of the flight mode selected.

Part 107.
The only ZERO flight hour certificate in the world.
It's like getting a driver's license without the driver's test.
