Guai 425 motor temp
How hot should a stock Guai 425 motor get? I was just doing some hoving in the back yard after getting it set up and when I touch the motor after a 4 min or so flight it was really hot(did not leave my finger on it for more then a sec). The battery is barley warm. Throttle curve is 100% all the way a crossed.

Gearing is
15t Pinnion
50t front main gear
19t oneway
(I believe thats right)

IS this OK whats the deal with this?

Gaui motors are notorious for running hot, I've heard of people going to redo the wire motor winds and finding the originals less than perfect. At least thats what I hear. How nice is your canopy? Have you considered cutting a small vent right above the motor?

Scorpion, Hyperion(same company) and Tonic-x make motors with fans on the top, that might help. Also is your ESC driving frequency set for 8khz?

Have you considered lowering your idle up curve just a bit?

Also, have you lubed all bearings and otherwise moving parts including the tail belt? Motor pinion gear mesh not too tight? Tail belt not too tight?

Thats all i can think of. Let us know how it turns out.
