Tornado Devistated my town!
I'm posting from my brothers computer to tell my story about my first tornado experiance. It sucks!

I'm alive and my house remarkably is still standing so it could be worse. I cant access my basement from inside my house so I was upstairs in the house. It was scarry! A tree fell on my crewcab truck and remarkably only very small dents.

I was right in the path and cant even describle it, my house was moving and swaying around and didn't fly away. Trees down everywhere, uprouted and snaped right off!

Right after it pasted me and a neighbor went right to work cutting trees from the road using my tractor to push what we could cutting what was needed to cut free in case someone need emergency rescue etc. well I figured best to get the roads free.

Sadly some lost everything, houses leveled and not very far from my house either. The center of town (right down the hill from me) got devistated church, town hall, grocery, houses...bad!

I dont know when I'll get back online but thats my story of my week.

WOW man, so sorry for your loss. I'm glad you're alright. Tornados are no joke either. More concentrated and powerful than our hurricanes down here. I bet that was scary as hell.

Sorry to hear that man. I have been through it myself many times growing up in Oklahoma. It is no fun at all! Glad you are ok. Good thing you guys did with the road. Just watch out for power lines. They can kill with a quickness!

I'm in Southbridge MA. Our house is ok, but there is complete devestation within a half-mile or so of the house. It's one thing to see it in the news, but it's another thing to see it for real. No loss of life here, only minor injuries, and that's amazing considering the damage. We made a trip to the local hobby shop in Sturbridge yesterday. The damage there is just as dramatic.Gerry Cullan,

So close.to home. It's crazy to see them up here. We were wondering if wed end up seeing them in our town but all we got was heavy rain and bad wind. Nothing too bad. Here. I'm sry to hear it hit but incredible that you guys are safe and your house still standing. Did your hard work clearing the streets pay off for rescue crew?

Sorry to hear about your experience.
Tornadoes ripped through our area a few weeks ago.
Rain and winds, closed some colleges down right before graduation.
Destroyed homes and businesses.
I lost all of my business packing materials and lots of paper goods that were stored in a warehouse that flooded terribly after winds damaged the door.
I am glad you are ok. It really is too scary, especially when you are not used to ever seeing that kind of thing.

it busted pine trees clean in two.. and tore down highway lights

it's hard to imagine the sheer power of a tornado

Yes, Hog Heaven Hobbies. They had a large tree limb across the roof, but are otherwise OK. The area where John lives also faired well with no damage.

Very sobering, viewing the damage around the Day's Inn, then Rt 131 between the Public House and Shaw's Plaza. While Rt 131 in Sturbridge was closed, traffic was diverted over Fisk Hill and Hall Roads. There was damage on these roads too. These locations are in Sturbridge.

Rt 169 in Southbridge is also a mess. Heartbreaking actually. I can't imagine what those people are dealing with. I haven't been up by Southbridge Airport, but understand there is a lot of damage up there too.

Hurricane Isabel did this to us up in the NorthEast back around 2003..

Then a few years later after building a pole barn a Noreaster came through...

Thanks for all your kind words. I'm in Monson, it got hit pretty hard. I haven't got over to Hog Heavon Hobbys yet glad to hear it's ok.

I've been cutting trees in my yards for 5 days and have a lot to go. My truck made out pretty good considering there was a tree snap over it. It was a pine that snaped half way down and the remaining branches slowed it enough to not damage my truck hardly at all.

I feel for some others who didn't fair as well as me.

Sure did, along with Springfield, it went a few miles south of us but still scary to say the least-- tornados are rare in Mass but it seems lately anything can happen anywhere. Weather patterns seem to be more extreme and unpredictable in the past year

So sorry for everyone in the Tornado area. I have a lot of friends/customers in Southern Mass. Thankfully looks like the all came through reasonably well. Things can be fixed.
We aren't that far away, we had nearly an inch of rain in about 20 minutes with very high winds. Thought we may get hit as well. Then the sun came back out.
Hope you all get back on your feet & rebuilt real soon.
Your fun starts here!

We have been somewhat lucky to avoid some tornados down here in Delaware. But what gets me is how the landscape can change so drastically and never look just the same for years after one comes through.Brian

Sorry to hear about this John. I am still very busy cleaning up around the lake and around the community here in Alabama from all the tornadoes we had. We are still getting 911 calls for trees finally lodging loose falling in the road and causing accidents..... It is really devastating when something like this happens to you. I hope and pray things get better for you guys as soon as they can.

My heart goes out to you and all who have suffered through these dangerous storms
One thing you can be thankful for is you are still alive and everything in the pics can be replaced; but, life cannot and as a survivor from one who lost someone...it stays with you forever and you will never joke about it either.

So sorry again for what you have lost.

Thanks again for all your kind words.

FEMA kicked in yesterday I'm told by neigbors and American red cross brought water and sandwiches around to us today.

Steve, hows the new job? You've been dealing with this too huh?

This used to be my friends house and garage from the back side of the mountain from my house. also the path up the street.

hootowl, I forgot to tell you I really hate to see a Duramax truck like that. Thats what I wanted when I built my crewcab but couldn't afford one.

Ya we have quite a bit of damage around the lake here and a few of us from the fire dept are volunteering to help with clean up. It is definitely a hard site to see, but amazing how everyone in the community is coming together and helping each other out. Hopefully your clean up and repairs go smoothly!
