I just bought an 8FG Super last week.
I'm coming from a JR x9303 which I have been using for more than 3 years.

The 8FG is better than the 10C because:
  • It has better gimbals (they're ball bearing supported)
  • The firmware is upgradeable via SD card slot
  • The 8FG has software which supports the CGY750 flybarless unit
  • The 8FG has more channels -14 instead of 10
  • The 8FG comes with a 1700mAh battery instead of the 1000mAh battery the 10C comes with
  • It's cheaper.
  • It balances perfectly on the neck strap hook.
I almost bought a 10C, but luckily some guys on RunRyder talked me out of it, and convinced me to get an 8FG instead.
I did the right thing by getting the 8FG.

I have a 10C now and would love to get an 8FG,but funds will not allow a new radio anytime soon.

But to add to DOOD's list, the 8FG also has a ton of programming the 10C does not including a comprehensive menu to get rid of CCPM interaction.

The 8FG really is just about all the radio most of us will ever need and at a great price, not really too much negative to say about it either.

the only bad thing I can say is that it was released not too long after I got my 10C,and i really wish I had known it was comming out

"It goes out QUICKLY.." No it does not. If you cycle the pack a couple of times, as recommended by the manual. I.e Full charge and take it down to auto cut off, you will get a pack that allows you to send RF at +7 hours.

You can use a 2s lipo (2200mah) for the 8FG that will last quite some. I am getting about 3-4 weeks out of mine flying 4 days a week.Have Rotors, Will Fly!

I really wish Futaba would update the 8FG so that the switches on top were spaced out more.

I run almost all Futaba equipment, but that switch spacing is very annoying.

I'm on the edge with going to the 8FGH because of that one feature alone. I'd likely swap out my 9503 for it if they would address this, because I love Futaba equipment.

The complaints come from former Spektrum or JR people that rest the middle finger between the switches while flying. I think that makes it too easy to hit the front switches by mistake. I keep middle finger in front of the 2 switches. You move your finger until it hits the longer back one, then the hold or idle up is right there. Might be hard to get used to coming from Spektrum/JR, but having always used Futaba, it is a non-issue.

The 8FG is better in every way. The 10C is just an updated 9C.

I don't like the battery... It goes out QUICKLY
I'll second that. Four cycles later on a friend of mines 8FGS and it's still coming up way to short on run-time. If it was mine I'd replace it with a 2s lipo, don't know why Futaba went with a Nimh battery with lipo technology where it is.

I do not like the 3 position switches that replaced the 2 position on the 10C.

If you like menus buy the 8fg, I can't stand the scrolling through all of them with that over sensitive ipod pad,YUK!

I own a well worn 10C and after playing around and setting up a couple of helis for a friend of mine on his 8fg I know for a fact I won't buy one.

I've been a die-hard futaba fan for over 20 years but the 8fg will not replace my 10C.
Damn that ground is hard! When's the right time to get out of this money sucking hobby?

Lot of people are fooled just the same, because they belong to the college if it has more, or bigger something it means better. Or either Newer is always best. Always be weary of New Products rushed released.

You can fly a Nitro on a DX6i for that matter. If your flying Hard 3D and your as good as the top competitors of the XFC then you can use remote gain, governors, ect.

All which can be run on a 7Ch TX. But always buy what looks good to your eyes, And within your price range. You don't have to take a second morgage out to compete whith what the others have. (And get the one that has the best top notch reviews.)

If I can read a post that has 10 comments and if at least 3 are negative. I'll not buy the product. If the people are good members, that have been around a long time and know their S**T.

Only Radio I'd dare purchase new is the JR's 9503. The Futaba 8FG would have to prove itself with a 450 size before turning it loose with anything that costed over $1,000 Same go's for the Futaba 10C

I'd be more trust worthy of a Futaba 9c with a 2.4 Module. Than the New Futaba's. 2.4 GHz is like Apple computers, people love to brag how good it is compared to PC, their Fools. PC has been around and Used longer far more widespread. Simple the Apples are not breading fast enough to become a threat to hackers. If Apply ever gets an equal share of the market, then they will be virus made for them to. They are not immune, just not of any concern yet.

2.4 is still shining right now, but the more that comes on line, the more problems will arise down the road.

But they are aready saying that if to many people are at one event, it can, or may cause a crash on 2.4.

To me thats not bullet proof, by any stretch of the means, they fist said when it came out with all the hype. If you fly alone, or with a few people your probably ok.

@rcflyer_09 - wow, interesting post, but you're dead wrong on the 8FG, it's proven itself in a big way, it's not exactly a new radio anymore.

We've been flying ours since they came out and they've been out for over a year now. It's not cheap junk like the low-end Spektrum stuff, it's a high quality radio set. Don't let the plastic case fool you. Plastic is not a bad thing.

My gimbals are just as strong as when I first bought the unit, there's no wear or tear of any kind. I don't know anyone who has had to send theirs in for service.

We are seeing more and more 8FG's in the wild. Everytime you turn around somebody has just bought an 8FG, even the plankers.

14 channels, S.Bus, and field upgradable, lowest latency of anything out there right now, It's by far the best value for the money.

Comparing it to a 10C (which is just a slightly updated 9C) is like comparing your new PC to a C64.

The 8FG is simply a great system.

Zaaaguy72 So when they come out with a 30ch I guess well neeed that too? Being it can run a couple dozen servos + more at once.

Who in h*ll will ever need 14 channels? are we flying RC Heli's or Real Helicopters with Air to ground missiles and radar? I hear ya on the Futaba 8FG. I just know it had some set backs at first last year. But since it could not even step up to the plate with Telemetry. I lost interest real fast.

New is pretty, but thats it!!! Just Pretty.

@rcflyer_09 - when the 8FG came out there were no radios with telemetry features.
I just know it had some set backs at first last year.
Like what precisely? I don't recall any issues with this system.

I'm not exactly a fanboy, I'll call out a bad product, but you're going to have to backup your statements with reality.
New is pretty, but thats it!!! Just Pretty.
Are we even talking about the same radio here?
