I'm still using the stock pack, but here's a LiPo pack that will fit there: http://www.rcaccessory.com/pe2600tx-2S.aspx

Hope that helps,
Doug.

Robbe do a LiIon pack with inbuilt electronics to prevent overcharging for the 8FG and 12FG, you can therefore charge it using the standard charging socket in the Tx, but will need a LiIon charger which they also sell. If you use a lipo I assume you will want to take the pack out of the Tx to charge it, and the plug will wear out fairly quickly as I believe they're not designed to be connected/disconnected repeatedly.

I use the Robbe one in my 12FG. Great thing is, I can leave it in to charge, but you do need a specific charger. Also, the voltage is almost the same as the NiMh that comes as std, so no probs with the low voltage warning, unlike if you use a lipo.

Snowy,

how long does the 8FG last with the Robbe lipo and what if you want to quick charge it at the field?

This is another option. NiMH with a little bit more capacity than stock, plus it can be quick charged. Just scroll about half way down the page and you'll find the Sanyo Eneloop pack made for the 8FG.

http://www.hangtimes.com/txpacks.html

I have not tried this transmitter pack, but I have used their receiver packs, both NiMH and A123 for years, and they have all been first class and problem free.

Be the change you wish to see in the world. (Gandhi)

777ER, I can go for a few months between charges, so not a prob.

I do know though, the Robbe battery cannot be fast charged. You can only use their specific charger.

I carry my STD battery with me if I am going flying all day just as a back up.

Have a look at it on the Robbe.de site.

I am using the Hangtime 2000mah battery in my 12FGH. Three years and counting. I keep the original battery with me as a spare but never need it.

I see no advantage to putting a 2200mah lipo in the radio and having to take it out to charge it, but that is just me. Capacity is capacity regardless of battery chemistry. Yes you could put a $10 lipo in a $500 transmitter instead of a $34 NIMH battery. The economics don't offset the issues with Lipo but again that is just my view of the world. And yes, I own many lipo batteries but they are not the best answer for all needs IMHO.

I got my Outrage battery (the one Hotwings recommended) in the mail today. I did a brief video overview to show you the battery and how well it fits in the 8FG.
