Dropping the no. of cells= more current spikes? New packs=hotter esc?
I currently have a e-raptor running:

4025-740kv
10T pinion, 111T main gear
10s lipo
2250rpm

I am running mode 11 on a jive at about 70% throttle(calibrated) with my 1.5 yrs old packs.

If I get some new packs, I am sure the actual operating throttle % of the new packs will be lower than my current packs for the same headspeed. In that case, will my esc run even hotter than now?

Should I run 9s packs instead of 10s with everything else constant, but at the same headspeed and much higher throttle %, will my current spikes increase or decrease?

The more cells, the higher the voltage. Assuming the same load, (same wattage) required for flying, the higher the voltage the lower the current and things tend to run cooler.

If you are worried that your throttle setting is too low, then you need to change your pinion to smaller size or move to a lower Kv motor.
