Did I get the wrong Program Card (Kontronik)
I just got my new ProgCard II today for my new Jive 100LV in a Logo 500SE.

Pulled it out of the box, and out falls two labels, one German, the other English. Looking at the English card, I notice that there is no self adhesive to attach it to the card itself. I suppose I have to glue it on somehow.

Then, I notice that there is no section for start-up time or motor timing on this thing.

First, for a supposedly premium brand, gluing the label on this is pretty cheasy. Second, can I not program the Start-up time and motor timing with this thing? Timing I can live without, really. The ProgCard II looks mainly for airplane applications, actually.

Should I return it and get the original card?

I'm already missing my Castle Link for this bird...

You're correct, timing & spoolup time are on Progcard I, Progcard II is for setting BEC voltage and governor settings (there are some other functions on the cards as well but not usually applicable for helis.)

You should not have to play with the default setting of automatic timing (the Jive automatically finds the most efficient timing for the motor and varies it depending on load) so Progcard I is then mostly for setting spoolup time or cutoff voltage.

I'd buy Progcard I to go along with Progcard II... or for twice the price you can buy a Progdisc.

The progcards and the outrageously priced (IMO) Progdisc are my main complaints about Kontronik stuff. Their ESCs are great but having to cough up an extra $60 (cards) or $120 (disc) to program additional options doesn't sit right with me given the initial purchase price of the ESCs.

No such thing... he just said he misses castle link. Can't argue with that because for less than $20 Castle link will tweak everything on a Castle ESC and to have the ability to adjust everything with the Kontronik stuff you have to either pay $60 for both Progcards or $120 for a progdisc.

Having run CC stuff in the past... I'll stick with my Jives, even if I did have to cough up $60 for 2 Progcards.

Kiba,

I'll take your advice and just get a Progcard I and have them both.

Thanks,

Erich

Oh my mistake. I took it he was stating he was missing it as a part of the install. These kontronik ESc's, I realize they are at the top of the heap when it comes to ESc's but are they really that good? I run castle in all my helis and love 'em what make Kontronik so much better?"R.I.P Roman" Citizen 0094 in the Nation

They are good because the rairly go up in flames and are idiot proof to program(probably why they don't go up in flames). The simple statement is...Kontroniks just work and with minimal effort.

I like Castle too but there is definitally room for error.

I like prog card because you actually see your settings . You can choose a mode (4) and still have battery set on nicd not lipo.I have both so I can adjust bec voltage and spoolup time (12sec) . As far as cards not attached ,really not a big deal . I've had two CC 120 HV burn in a week , yes they work for the money but frustrating to replace too much . I spent over 500.00 on Kontronik but unless I destroy it I will have no issues .I stole it ,flew it and gave it back ;)

Get together with some of your Jive friends and "go in" on the cards. Then everyone gets what they want at a reasonable rate. Once you try steak, is hard to go back to hotdogs.

"We have a WINNER!!"

Best of luck man, it's the last ESC you'll ever buy unless you need another one.

Don't buy the prog disc, the imbecile who thought it would be a good idea to replace simple buttons with the "interface of the future" canting and pitching mechanism should have been summarily fired. It is the biggest pain in the ass to use and why on earth someone thought it would be better that an up and down button remains a mystery, mines back in its packaging lost on a shelf somewhere. Stick with the cards, although i would make sure they will continue to support the newer controllers.

ESCs are awesome.
